Airpaddler
Could anyone spec. a NiMh battery for a Multiplex Dart 2ch please? The fuz. is very narrow as is the fuz. aperture (20mm wide) All available types seem to be too big. The height would need to be around 35mm. I have several 2x2 and 1x4`s but it will not accept them by a long chalk.
Miketgd
I use a 800mah 4cell AAA 4.8v Receiver Pack (http://www.overlander.co.uk/sanyo-eneloop-800-aaa-4-8v-rx-square.html). Fits well but make sure you have packing (foam) in the nose to avoid direct contact with the fuselage.
David Ashby - Moderator
I've just acquired a second hand Dart but without servos or the servo tray that slips into the fus'. I can make one of course but wondered if anyone has a template or pic of theirs for guidance.
Gary Binnie
Is the fuselage cracked and repaired behind the wing seat?!! Luckily the servos were loose and I recently reunited them with the fuselage to save hunting in the future. The tray is 3 mm ply, 18 mm wide by 150 mm long. There are two strengthening rails underneath made from the same material, they are 9 mm x 100 mm. The servos are Multiplex MS-X3 (for dimensions). The V tail pushrod wires are overlength and are fed through barrel and screw clamps on the servo arms. Forward is left, the single screw at the rear screws in to a hardwood block in the fuselage to fix the tray. Have lost a photo somewhere!
Gary Binnie
Found it! The servos fit snugly between the rails.
David Ashby - Moderator
Fabulous, thanks Gary. No, it’s in good shape and doesn’t seem to have been flown much. There’s still the hardwood block for the screw so producing the tray shouldn’t be difficult. 👍😉
Gary Binnie
I'm breathing life in to my Flair Albatross which hasn't flown for years, I never really got on with it but I should give it another chance. I found the Dart instructions miraculously, there is a plan view of a tailplane/elevator in case you break one. The handwriting and scribbles are not mine. Gary Binnie
Just noticed that the servo tray in the instructions is longer than mine and is designed to trap the battery in the nose. I think foam packing and a short tray like mine is easier as it's tricky to slide the tray in as it is and longer would be trickier.
David Ashby - Moderator
Perfect, C of G was my next question! My model has a removable tail section, is that normal?
Gary Binnie
My tail is glued on which is inline with the instructions, no mention of modifying it for screws though it's not a bad idea (if they are Nylon to keep the weight down). It shows Z bends at the ruddervator ends of the pushrods which mine has.
