Andrew767
That's super Martin....waiting to see your canopy fit. Are you going to use the MHS one or use your own??. Andrew
Kevin Fairgrieve
Elevator position. Original. As per the free pull out plan. Or. As per the MHS plan. Just pined on for a look see. I may deviate from the free plan and go with this. Any one got any thoughts? The rudder hitting the elevators has not been a problem on my Mini Jazz or Maxi Jazz. Chris Benoy (Carbon Copy)
Someone has snapped one up already, I was so impressed I chucked in a free tailplate to go with it. I've gotten slightly overexcited and have just ordered a Mini Jazz kit for myself...
Nev
If that was me then thanks very much. I'll send a photo when it's finished but it may take I while. Have fun with your build Chris.
Kevin Fairgrieve
I am almost there. A question for those going down the I.C. route (of course you e*$£^%*c people can chip in as well), regarding prop selection. The little SC12 that I am using recommends an 8x4 prop. Now to me that seems a little on the large size, diameter wise not pitch. What do you all think? Maybe a 6x4 or a 7x4? I have an 8x4 so that is on it for now, but I can always get other size`s. I may just go with it and see what happens or even buy some smaller and go compare!!!!!!! Thought please. Kev
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
6x4 is waaayyy too smal Kev...thats an 049 prop....7x4 would mean a shed load of revs....its a 10 prop...8x4 is what I'd use on a 12...I'm planning on a 9x4 on the 15 in my Mini Jazz......you want lots of thurst for this model (which means a big prop) & not much pitch & or rpm to keep the speed down... Kevin Fairgrieve
Thanks Steve. The 8x4 stays on then. My other Jazz flies nice with its SC15 on a 9x4. Kev
Kevin Fairgrieve
And so my MKII Jazz is ready for its maiden. That got me to thinking!! Twin!!!!!!!!!!!!! It seems to work out quite well. Total span comes out at 43.3/4 an increase of 9 1/4 inches this brings the built up area of the wing without tips to 39 inches. Adding about 3 inches to the rear fuzz looks like it will work well to and with about another 3/4 inch added to the rudder depth it seems to be about right and in proportion for its size. Would have to be electric I think!!! Thinking aloud here, can someone work out the powertrain requirments for this for me. I know two things about electric set ups. Nothing and even less. Ian Southerton 1
Hi Kev Electric motor and battety size will depend largely on the weight and wing loading, and also on how much power to weight you want-do you want it to climb vertically etc? Nearly finished my kawakawaka? it's a lot more difficult than the jazz. Ian

I have 2 Mini Jazz and an enlarged "Maxi Jazz" I just took the plan to my local copy shop and had them enlarge it. If I recall correctly to 114% giving a wingspan of 49inches as opposed to the original 35. Standard servo`s all round except for the throttle. The Mini Jazz has HiTec mini`s all round. The pictures can be found here. Kev
Masher
Sorry to poke my nose in Kev but I think you mean 140% - I've just read your original thread! And I think I'll be doing the same - I really like this model and I haven't even finished or flown it yet. Kevin Fairgrieve
Hmmmm. This thread says 140% And this thread says 114% Maths was never my strongest subject. Kev
Masher
35 up to 49 is 49/35 x 100 = 140% Kev, while you're on, what was your final choice of battery this build and where did you put it? Did the C of G come out good? Thanks
Kevin Fairgrieve
140% it is then. I went with the 700mAH Zippy LiFePo4. Here. CofG comes out a tadd nose heavy. It located above the tank, behind F2 Kev

John Wood 6
Hi What a great plane, would like to have a go at building one, and after messing about with foamies and electric, this will be my first go at I.C glow and Balsa. I live in France so cost of plans including postage is £16, which is nearly half the cost of the SC .15 engine I'm going to buy. So does anyone know if there is a voucher promo code for these plans, or is it possible to buy the back issue of the magazine that these plans appeared in, and if so, what month was it. This all sounds a bit mean, but I am on very limited income, and have to keep all my building costs down. Thanks for a great build log, it has really inspired me. john stones 1 - Moderator
hello all im building one of these because you've inspired me am doing it electric a don't understand it yet, I would like to use 2200 mah lipo's because I already have them can you recommend motor, esc and prop please? I don't want it fast, want it to have plenty pull so I can do daft stuff
Kevin Fairgrieve
Hi John, and welcome to the Jazz Club. I am building my first electric plane the Dawn Flyer as part of the mass build. I can`t really help with your set up, but others will be able to. A 2200 mHa should fit physically but you would need to build in an access hatch. There are one or two builds in the 2014 section that reference electric. Try Mashers for a start. Building tips: Do the mod re the very narrow fuselage section and add a ply doubler. Enjoy. john stones 1 - Moderator
have read them all Kev that's what set me off done ply doubler and widened fuzz, is conflicting stuff re electric and I don't know enough to make a choice for how I want to fly it I want it 3dish
