John T
For the last few days we've been treated to the sight of several hot air balloons flying over the house from the Northampton Balloon Festival. On Friday evening we must have been directly downwind of the festival, with many of the balloons flying directly over the house or landing in the fields surrounding the village. By the time I'd remembered to take a picture many of them had flown past, but here's a few photos anyway. There's something very uplifting about balloons, if you'll excuse the pun...

GrumpyGnome
AvGas must be cheap today... 2 black Hawks have been low flying around us all day. Polish must be cheap too as they are VERY shiny!
leccyflyer
Two Apache helicopters went over yesterday - I heard the first one and ran outside just as the second one arrived over the house - I estimate it was about twice the height of our poplar trees above the tree tops - namely less than 100ft above ground level and they were motoring. I waited a few minutes just in case they were making a circuit and possibly coming back, but by the time I got back inside and fired up ADS-B they were twenty miles away and had gone up to 700ft. I know there's a big NATO exercise on, but this was quite rare for these parts - don't often see Apaches here, other than the Piper version. John Lee
Not one but two Beluga XL Super Transporters passed directly over our field during the course of one (model) flight today. We are about 10 miles from the Airbus factory at Hawarden so we frequently see the Belugas - there are normally about 4 movements a day. But unusually today's flight paths took both the arriving & departing aircraft over us and just after one departed another arrived. Rather blurry shot from my phone grabbed just after landing my model:
Robert Cracknell
Plane Finder shows 9 Typhoons airborne over the UK at the moment. Do we have any left on the ground I wonder?
leccyflyer
Treated to several flypasts and a couple of direct overheads by Spitfire TR9 ML295 yesterday, plus her chase plane for aerial shots, the Gipps Aerovan. Seems to becoming a regular thing over this summer and they are here for the whole week.
Eric Robson
That Spitfire probably was the one that flew over our club field on Wednesday, at the time I was starting my Kyosho Spitfire when it appeared. Just missed it as it went into a cloud. I was informed a plane with invasion stripes was flying over, who doesn't recognise a Spitfire? leccyflyer
That Spitfire was certainly here on Wednesday as well Eric - she's based at Scone Aerodrome at Perth for this week doing flights, sometimes in attendance with the Aerovan - supposed to be doing a flypast at RAF Montrose tomorrow. It was heading North West when over here probably skirting Newcastle Airport before heading North again for Perth.
J D 8 - Moderator
Two seat Spitfire ML295 was at Haverfordwest airfield Pembrokeshire last weekend, videos on the you tube. Is it on some sort of tour?
leccyflyer
It looks like they have made a canny business decision and are now flying Spitfires from a number of regional centres, rather than confining flights to the South East of England. This is the second time this summer that they have been based at Perth.
Lee Rowley
From on board the Sky Princess docked at La Baie, the port town to Saguenay, Quebec province, afternoon of Monday 23 September I managed to get several photographs of this pair of F18's when in formation over La Baie. Earlier, a single F18 passed overhead several times. I assume they are based at the nearby RCAF Bagot airbase (near Sagueuny). During that time, a pair of fast moving military jets passed overhead heading in a northey direction. I think they're Jaguars?
J D 8 - Moderator
Sepcat Jaguar has been out of service with RAF and most other nations that operated them some years. I think the Indian Navy still operates them. May be what you have there is an Alpha jet made by Dassault/Dornier, Has very similar planform. Cuban8
Our friendly JP from North Weald has been over every day recently on his regular jaunt to Clacton. Sounds lovely, especially as he was very low to stay clear of the clouds yesterday.
Lee Rowley
Hello JD8. Thanks for your response to my post of Wednesday; that initiated me to do some research. I discovered that Top Aces, a Montreal based defence contractor, provides Alpha Jets to No. 414 Squadron RCAF for electronic warfare training and tactics development. And that RCAF Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment use Top Aces Alpha Jets (flown by RCAF personel) for testing, chase, and pilot proficiency. This confirms your view that what I had photographed were Alpha Jets.
Jake Bullit
Twin seat Spitfire passed over me heading south from Perth. Heard it and rushed out to see it disappearing towards Liverpool.
Erfolg
Hmmm, I have seen (as others in the club) what appears to be a Spitfire, in a low level circuit to Blackpool (airport). It does not sound like a Merlin, it has been suggested that it is a Griffon. There is a Spitfire project and visitor exhibits their. I did and have wondered if it is related. As with most things on your door step, have not, nor any other club members as far as I am aware visited it. After all it is Blackpool, as many on the Fylde Coast, I see it as another land, and there be Dragons. Perhaps a coincidence or in some way related? Jason Channing
First air display watching from my mother in-laws house in Duxford and now i know why, even with free membership to the museum and displays many do not go to the Airshows as its much better being under the flight path rather than being at the airfield ,Lancaster flying over head and the Typhon pulling vertical straight above us,close enough to clearly see the shock diamonds and it was damn loud. Should be able to share some footage as my son took lots.

Lee Rowley
From on board the Sky Princess docked at Boston's cruise port; yesterday afternoon, Friday 5 October. The top-level rear deck provided a clear view and ideal photo platform to a very active Logan International airport, located on the opposite side of the bay. Whilst photographing the numerous airliner arrivals and departures, I captured several photos of this graceful small commuter plane - a Cape Air Tecnam P2012 Traveller (N833CA). Follow the link to the interesting origins of this aircraft https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tecnam_P2012_Traveller
