Andrew Edmead
Looking forward to starting this model, especially after a great day at the September meeting at the Great Orme. I'm thinking of going for the Lanceri Neri Aerobatic Scheme? What do you think? Andy

Martin Gay
Hi Andy, Nice colour scheme but I think Ray Ball has just beaten you to it! https://www.modelflying.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=144642

Andrew Edmead
I like the idea of an aerobatics scheme, so this one looks like an option!

I have found a new one now as someone has already picked that one. Still sticking with the display team idea though. Thanks Mark I was talking to you at the Orme I think? I'm really bad with names! Martin Gay
I like the red scheme. Should be easy to see in the air as well. Are you planning on adding drop tanks?
Andrew Edmead
Martin, to be honest I like the red scheme as it looks a bit more straight forward than some of the other schemes. I'm not sure about the drop tanks, this is not my first model build but it is my first Scale one. Are the drop tanks on the plan? I haven't checked yet? Can I ask a question, did the flaps make a difference? Should I build them it or keep it simple? Andy
Alan Gorham_
Drop tanks aren't on the plan but they are mainly just a simple cylinder in section with rounded nose & tail. You could roll or plank the straight cylinder out of balsa and carve the nose & tail from blue foam. There's a PSS chap who has some blue foam going cheap.... Martin Gay
Andy, Using the flaps and ailerons as CROW brakes (butterfly) really helps slow the model down for landing. Also allows the option of drooping the wing trailing edges to increase the section camber for when the wind drops. Most modern transmitters allow this sort of programming. Andy Meade
I like the black one with that really colourful underside - reminds me of the french display Fougas. (the other andy)
zz
Just received the Oct 19 issue of RCM and E, way out in the antipodes, and the column SWITCHON grabbed my attention. With the sub title PSSA GOES ALL AMERICAN, I could not believe what I was looking at. Two pictures of a model Avon Sabre A94-101. A94-101 was a CA26 Sabre, a one off and prototype of the Australian built Sabre. The 1st production Australian Sabre, designated CA27, was A94-901. A94-101 survives in the RAAF Museum, Point Cook., VIC and A94-901, survives in the HARS collection at Albion Park, NSW. Yes, the Sabre was an American design, but this model is of the Australian variant, and should have been so captioned. I am unable to let this matter pass without comment. There will be the occasional gremlin. A picture of A94-101 at Point Cook. Not the best view, but it will have to suffice.
Martin Gay
Well spotted Kooka. It was the RAF style roundels that fooled most people. We chose that scheme for the prototype model because of the prototype markings on the full size. Are you going to join in the mass build? Alan Gorham_
Interesting stuff, but what a pity you've placed in someone's personal build blog for an Italian Sabre. Perhaps an email direct to the magazine editor might have been more relevant...
Andrew Edmead
"Other Andy" I do like the black one, but the red one should be easier for me, I think. However I reserve the right to change my mind throughout the build! But will stick with the the aerobatic scheme. It's been interesting reading up on the Sabre such a lot of history with that aircraft. I will build in the flaps then. I assume you attach the drop tanks on with magnets so they fall off on landing? I'm going to study the plan tonight to get all my materials ready, so I will probably have a load more questions soon. Andy

" I am unable to let this matter pass without comment"..........................you should have, it's petty.
Andy Meade
Maybe an admin can come along and delete the comment? Andy - yup, magnets should suffice. I can always 3D print some tanks if anyone was interested? I know shaping balsa into a circular manner can be quite hard from experience! Look forward to the woodwork starting
Alan Gorham_
Phil has just reminded me that some of the mass-build A4's have R/C droppable tanks (Messrs Hey & Barlow IIRC?) They are jettisoned before landing so leaving a clean wing to land on. That could be a option.... Et voila: The Hey Skyhawk with tanks: Hey Skyhawk Edited By Alan Gorham_ on 10/09/2019 17:18:
Andrew Edmead
The tanks on the Skyhawk look massive, it's a very nice looking aircraft. I'm not sure about having RC tanks, would that mean you would have to drop them before a landing. Knowing me I'd forget and rip the mechanism off or something. How did the mechanism work in the skyhawk?
Mark Kettle 1
I've just looked at the drop-tanks, the shape is rounded bottom, flatter top making the front look like a bill with some anhedral on the rear fins. See on this link Andy F86 drop-tanks Edited By Mark Kettle 1 on 12/09/2019 11:53:
