Great service

Recommended Posts

Today I ordered some lipos with XT60 plugs and adapters for XT60 to Deans plugs, on line. I got the usual email saying my order had been accepted. I then went down the garden to my workshop. Hadn't been there more than ten minutes and my wife came down to tell me the shop had phoned up with a query on the order. I called the shop and the query was that the adapters would not work with the batteries as the male/female bits were the wrong way round. This was OK as the adapters were not for these batteries.

Shows that some one in the shop knows what they are doing and doesn't just put what you order in a packet and send it.

Well done to Paul and Sussex Model Centre in Worthing.

Reminds me of the time I ordered some wheels from Puffin Models. John Emms was quickly on the phone to check that the order was right because I’d ordered one large wheel and two small ones. As it happens they were for a motor glider so all was well but like you, I appreciated his taking the trouble to check.

I have been using SMC since they were in Teville Gate Worthing before moving to their present shop so I know them well. Ali of Al's model also worked in the old shop. It is my "local" shop is just 18 miles down the A24 and I live just off the A24 so a simple journey each time.

Late yesterday afternoon I ordered some servos from 4-Max. They arrived this morning in the post at 10:30.

I haven't seen service like that since I was a atudent. I could post a letter on Sunday to catch the last post in Edinburgh and my parents would have it the next morning in Woking in time for breakfast.

Well done 4-Max.

Survival of the fittest I suppose. Those that remained stuck in the past with the attitude that they were doing you a favour by taking your business at their convenience are long gone. Agree, I receive excellent service from all those suppliers mentioned by others. A lot of very good Ebayers as well , those not up to scratch never last long.

Not really building/flying related but I guess 99% of us have to use printers with our tablets, laptops etc. - I would like to draw your attention to the firm I use for printer ink. They go by the unlikely name of STINKYINK.COM

Admittedly they're reasonably local to me but if I order before 4.00pm it's always here the following morning. Also their prices are definitely competitive - especially the Refills. Have a quick look - you'll probably save yourselves some money - and anything to keep out of shops of any description at the moment.

Hope the above is acceptable to the Mod's

add Leeds Model Shop to the list, had two props go missing in post, tracking said they had been delivered but hadn`t, couldn`t get any sence out of royal mail, online kept going in circles, phoned local depot and they said not accepting any calls due to how buisy they were, online said to contact seller and they can chase up order, R Mail said they had delivered it so what Leeds Models could do i don`t know. Email them anyway and explained my predicament, got E mail back not long after saying they had refunded me the £14, no hassle, then appologised for inconvieniance, it wasn`t there fault but very welcombe service, will re order after christmas rush is over.

Great service from Steve Webb Models last week.......ordered Thursday, received Saturday despite Christmas post. Royal Mail did their job well too.

Even better than it seems because I mistyped my house number and only realised after the order was placed - a quick email and I received a reply from Webbs within minutes saying they had amended it. I don't think you can get better service than that! Competetive price too.

Model Shop Leeds are great. I miss being able to wander around their aladdin's cave......... not Covid, I migrated to the East Cost and it's hours away now.

I once bought an ic heli from them - whole kit and caboodle. They said to come back once assembled so they could check it out for me. Walked me to the shop's back yard that was about 10 feet square, surrounded by walls and spent about 30 mins fettling it. My ears were ringing!

I ordered a small tube of P38 filler and hardener from an on-line car spares shop on 3rd December. Only huge tubs of the stuff in my local shops, so not what I wanted. Heard nothing from the on-line supplier, so emailed last week and got nothing in reply. Phoned on Saturday to find that they'd heard from Royal Mail that the package that they'd originally sent out promptly had been damaged, and was being returned to them. They were highly apologetic as they'd simply missed my order and would put a new pack in the post today (Monday) without fail.

I was happy with their very polite manner and response on the phone and TBH, things do go wrong or get forgotten from time to time - so very often a quick phone call rather than an email barrage will do the trick.

Most shops either on-line or bricks and mortar are pretty good these days, but unfortunately, those that are trying their best do tend to get dragged down by the few that couldn't give a fig or are simply incompetent.

I use Webbs, Leeds, SMC, Kings Lynn, Nexus and one or two others, and find their service excellent. I have Balsa Cabin and Colchester A1 within reasonable travelling distance, and do use them whenever possible. Some years ago we discussed how the local, small model shops were in decline and would be replaced by  fewer on-line mail order specialists. I think we were right.

This was posted on the Balsa Cabin's Facebook page this afternoon :-

"Our couriers and ourselves are doing the best we can to deliver your orders, but due to the current situation the UK and the whole world is in please be patient. We will not put up with your rudeness and abuse there really is no need for it, we are human like yourself.

I find the need for Vanda and David's post truly appalling. What is it with some folk? Over the years I have never received anything but first class service from Balsa Cabin. Also excellent service from RC World. Ordered items early on the 29th Dec., dispatched the same day.

Outstanding service from Banggood (CH).

Orderered an EDF unit, which after a couple of days showed as "shipped".

Recieved a text a few days later to say that there had been a "problem" at customs their end.

Profuse apologies, they dispatched another one and gave me a $25 credit.

Get my vote!

I just got a big box of glass cloth, rollers and other bits from Bucks Composites. I must say that is very fast service considering I only ordered on Friday. They have a great website with lots of tips. I remember them attending Wings and Wheels shows in the past and being very helpful there too. Good people to deal with and very helpful firm .
