Tim Donald Posted November 27, 2019 Share Posted November 27, 2019 Does running a servo (ripmax sd100) at 140% throw do any damage? It is the only way I can get a spoiler to work properly. I have tried to change control horns etc but I am at the maximum size that I can fit in the space available. I have set this throw in the transmitter menus (Futaba T10J). J D 8 Posted November 27, 2019 Share Posted November 27, 2019 Would think that as long as the servo is quiet, no hum or sound it is under strain then it is ok. Problem with rotary servos is that at these extreme movements you do not get as much extra movement as the percentage figure suggests. I know what you mean, it's not 40% more linear travel but being a spoiler with the servo on its side the angle of movement sort of rotates and the extra makes all the difference. Frank Skilbeck Posted November 27, 2019 Share Posted November 27, 2019 Servo position varies with the control pulse width typically between 900 and 2100 ms, and this is what the servo expects, what you will probably find is that is what 140% travel on a Futaba relates to.
