dave windymiller
My other life is this. Imported from New Zealand in 1984 as this colour Kawasaki H2 750 triple two stroke wasnt available in the UK. Many a happy rally with like minded hooligans' who never grew up either! It now sports expansion pipes as after 35+ years, one needs a change.
Martin Harris - Moderator
Mostly 1955. All good things come from 1955...well, I was born then, my Triumph Terrier was made that year and my Series 1 Land Rover was registered in early January although it left the production line in late 1954 as a 1955 model year example. I restored the Terrier some years ago after a friend that I'd sold it to realised that he'd never get round to finishing the job and as it was slowly relegated from his mother's shed, to the back of his garage and then to his garden, exposed to the elements, gave it back to me - and it was still registered to me anyway so I'll claim that I've owned it since 1971 and he only rented it for a while... ...and after sourcing a lot of missing and damaged parts and a little work ? My current project is the Land Rover that I have owned since 1979 - even then a well used, abused and multi coloured paint layer (original bronze green, Ministry of Supply respray green, ivory, shocking pink!!! and finally blue before I bought it) example with more holes in the bulkhead than steel, which served me well pulling gliders out of fields, trailers all around the country and everyday transport for many years before I got involved with other matters. I started the restoration by rebuilding the bulkhead and did a fair bit of work after moving to a house with a nice double garage plus a single one in an adjoining block but got seduced by model flying and put it on hold. Now retired, work has restarted and I'm making slow but steady progress. This is the only picture I have from the "old days" when in daily use in the mid 80s. Note the beginnings of preparation for returning to the original green - most layers were simply picked off! An early part of the stripdown At this stage, I got back into model flying! Pictured more recently after extracting it from my single garage - since then I've stripped the bodywork and cleaned/repaired the rear chassis...and I've repainted the front half which had suffered when the garage got damp after earlier restoration. Beginning to take shape again...Most mechanical work is complete and I'm currently working through the body panels, repairing as much as possible rather than replacing with reproduction parts.
Kim Taylor
I took my driving test in a series IIA Land Rover. Crash 1st & 2nd gear, Rover 2.2 diesel engine (horrible thing). I think the examiner just wanted to get it over with!! Liking the little Triumph - what size is the engine? It looks the same as an early Tiger Cub, I'm guessing the only difference is the engine size. Kim

The Cub was developed from the 150cc Terrier which was then phased out after a couple of years. The engine did live on in the guise of the "Bermuda" Cub - the island only permitted motorcycles with a 150cc maximum size engine at that time. Don Fry
I cook. Taught by my mum, who was formally trained at the London School of Cordon Bleu Cookery by her employers in the early 1930s. All the ladies in my family cook, except my sister who is useless. My proudest possession is my great grandmother’s planc, that a bake stone in English, all 15 Kg of hand casted pig iron. In use last night.

Wingman
I have a live steam model boat which I enjoy running (when the boating pond is filled - don't ask?) and because of lockdown I've passed all three Amateur Radio exams so I'm a top banana in that and enjoy morse code communications to far corners of the world. David Davis
I've restored a couple of P6 Rovers. The red one was a rare estate conversion by Panelcraft. Probably the 89th out of 156 made. I sold it when I was unemployed. The new owner had the bonnet re-sprayed, fitted Wolfrace wheels and entered it in a concours d'elegance which it won! Since then it's been languishing in a barn with lots of other old cars mostly A Series Minis. I still have the blue one. In its time it's been all the way down to the south of France and the south of Spain.

School cadet force 1963. I was fifteen years old. High fashion was a string vest. After a day on the ranges the string vest had left its bruised imprint on my shoulder! Kim Taylor
David - I just love the Rover P6 - the last 'proper' Rover. If I could find one of those estates (and of course afford it) I'd buy it like a shot - I can but dream!! Wish I'd never got rid of my last one, a 2200TC saloon 18 hours ago, Martin Harris - Moderator said: Lots of the diesels have been replaced by later engines, I believe but mine's petrol. Martin, wrt the Terrier, a grey cell or two started to work last night and after having a root around in my 'stuff' this morning, I found this: Have you seen / got one of these. You're welcome to this if it's any good to you. It's in what would probably be best described as oily rag condition, but then it is maybe 67 years old. Martin Harris - Moderator
That's exceptionally kind of you Kim. I have a later version but that would have been the correct manual for the bike when it was first registered so it would be nice to have. I'll drop you a PM.
