Mower fuel tank repair

Recommended Posts

Petrol is so expensive now that it may be false economy to repair and then find it still leaks.   And of course that could also be a safety issue too.   So see what a new tank costs-  it may also be possible to fit a tank made for something else.

I would try a bit of GRP if the hole is not too large.

Obviously the tank will have to be empty and very clean before the repair.

I recall a specialist repair bandage available for fixing fuel tanks years ago, not sure if it is still available but a local motor factors should be able to help.

£15 + post,? what ever happened to the days when we tied a washing up liquid bottle to the frame of a motor bike as a petrol tank ?.

Come to get our mower going after it's winter hibernation and the mice have gnawed at the plastic fuel tank and we have a small leak on the bottom corner! Temporary repair with blenderm tape let us do the first roll of the season, any suggestions for a more permanent repair.

Frank, just out of interest whats the cost of a new tank?
