Ernie
Hi, especially those of us living in la Belle France. I have a wee problem. For many years, I've been buying modelling bits from UK suppliers, with very few hitches. But now, thanks to Brexit, I'm finding things increasingly difficult. Paint can't be sent to europe, also batteries and I'm sure many other bits and bobs. AND when they do arrive, the postie needs payment of French taxes. So, how about, we create a comprehensive list of the very best french shops for all the best stuff? I'm willing to do the bulk of the work if anyone is interested ernie
Paul De Tourtoulon
i get my stuff from flash rc, Intermodel, Weymuller, Miniplanes, Pb modelisme, and a few others, most of my other sources have shut down, yesterday was Topmodel the Saito supplier,,,
Wingman
I believe that Germany is well stocked with model shops (including Horizon Hobbies) just Google "German RC Model shops" - no problems getting stuff from them delivered to France. Don Fry
Top Model, Nantes, is good and helpful, website is in many languages. Mini Planes has good stock levels, and reliable. Just read Paul’s bit about Top Model, shame, they did Perkins stuff. Edited April 2, 2022 by Don Fry
David Davis 2
I have often used Weymuller, Flash RC, Top Model and PB Modelisme. I did not know that Top Model had closed.

David Davis 2
Are there any good firms in France which would make up vinyl stickers for use on my Barons?
Ernie
Hi guys, Thanks for all the input. I've started a list of shops which might be useful. It's interesting, there doesn't seem to be the small home based specialised suppliers, that you have in the UK. I wonder why ernie

Don Fry
Bluntly Ern, Blighty shops are outside the circle. Brexit happened. Look elsewhere. That train has gone. Not coming back. Buying within the customs union, is cheap, no middle man, or government intervention.
Steve Colman
I'm more or less in the same boat a little further south in Spain. Customs/tax charges at both ends from anything sent from the UK which makes even the smallest items a non viable option. I now source all my stuff from outlets across mainland europe including Hobbyking, Lindinger, Aerobertics, etc.
Mike L
One more for the list is Absolu-modelisme, I used them to source some balsa recently, decent selection at good prices. Thumbs up for Flashrc and Miniplanes plus Hobbyking EU warehouse. I have found you usually find what you need routing around the websites but can be frustrating if no stocks …. but I think that’s a challenge no matter where you buy nowadays. If someone finds a SLEC or Model Fixings equivalent, heads up please. Mike
Don Fry
Funny enough, I was looking for iron stuff for a big boat project. Wandering about a big builders merchant, trade sales, they did every conceivable nut bolt combination down to M3. They did Ali tube, sheet, all sorts of stuff we use once in a while. For Erin’s benefit, that is Brico Dépôt, on the right, on the N137, about 12 km east of Saintes. Edited April 4, 2022 by Don Fry
Ernie
hi,and yes Don, I know brico depôt, I'll have a long look. Many years ago it was a troc (sort of junk shop for the mods) SWIMBO and I used to go there often, she bought me a beautiful ancient vets syringe with an enormous needle for injecting horses and suchlike. I used it for years for priming, till I lent it to a mate who forgot to give it back (hi G) I'm putting together a list. Suppose I should check all the shops out ernie
David Davis
Sorry to jump on your thread Ernie but I thought that the following was worth relating. Last week, an expatriate Englishman, who used to be a member of my club, got in touch with me. He was preparing to return to England permanently and wanted to dispose of a DB Sport & Scale 1/4 scale Blackburn Monoplane because the fuselage was too long to fit in the van! Dispose of in the sense of give it to me free, gratis and for nothing. I didn't want it because I'm planning on going back myself and I'm trying to get rid of stuff rather than accumulate it but I mentioned it to a clubmate, Guy Auvieux and he said he'd take it on. Guy is a good modeller, he built the tail surfaces for my second Big Guff after the first one was burned when a LiPo exploded. It's a fine model with working wing warping. All it neeeds is a little tidying up, a battery, a receiver and an engine. I arranged with Guy to deliver it yesterday. I explained that he'd need a bigger vehicle than he normally drives in order to shift it. He turned up with a big van and took it away. Then he gave me 30€ for the diesel fuel and six bottles of 2018 Chateau Lamothe in a nice wooden box. Generous people these French! He's TT himself! Don Fry
I’ve flown one of they. Nice flyer. Odd things, the trim changes from day to day, flight to flight, but nothing to worry about.
