Swastika decals

Just brought the Eflite 1500mm F W 190. It comes with no swastika on the fin ( do not want to get into the rights and wrong about that. I understand both sides of the story about yes or no)

Anyone know where I can get some swastika decals the right size for this model

If I remember right DD, it is not banned per se, but the rule is more 'public display is allowed in certain circumstance', one of which is in historic or educational context. I imagine that EFlite is simply playing it safe as they can't afford any potential legal wrangling.

Display of the swastika isn't only prohibited in Germany - both Austria and France prohibit it's display, though there are exception related to historical context, filmmaking and museum use. A model distributor which is selling it's products in Europ will often take the safe option and omit the swastika from the supplied markings, rather than needing to go to the trouble of separate packaging and contents for different countries.

I have a very nice model of a Fieseler Storch, done in the winter colours of the Russian front, 1941, built from a Svenson kit. It is a beautiful example of scale modeling, at its highest level.  Built in 1980 by a British Army officer, and flown on British bases in Germany at the time. Note, British bases.

I bought it from the builder in Somerset. Brought it to France.
Where to allow it to fly at the club field with the swastika displayed…….

I talked to my Chairman. Who talked to the Mayor, who satisfied himself that it’s a work of great beauty, and that my Socialist leanings make it unlikely that I have ulterior motives. The mayor then consulted authorities at County equivalent level, and Regional  level. And permission was granted.

"do not want to get into the rights and wrong about that"

...and of course almost instantly people start talking about the rights, wrongs and reasons of that.

Honestly, I despair of this forum at times.

I believe that the reason for there being no swastika on the fins of WW2 German models is that the display of the swastika is banned in Germany.

Yes I know the reason but they not ban here in the UK

I know the reason for Eflite not putting on the swastika. That is not what I asked. I like my model to be like the real aircraft and the FW 190 had the swastika on. There for I would like to have my FW 190 with a swastika on the fin. Just need to know where I could buy some. I fully understand why Eflite have left them off and agree with Eflite decision on doing this. It has left it to the individual to make the decision to fit them or not

Quite so.

I once knew a man, the neighbour of my uncle, who was an aeromodeller and an ardent trade unionist. He bought a model of a Bf 109 from a clubmate but could not bring himself to fly it in the Nazi markings. So he stripped off all of the covering and re-covered it. The fuselage was finished in pale blue and wing and tailplane in yellow. It was very hard to recognise as a 109 in that colour scheme!

If I ever build a WW2 German aircraft, and model FW190s are said to fly well, I will finish mine as a captured aircraft in British markings.
