Graham Bowers
I've stripped the old covering off a used Wot4 Mk3 and some old repairs have resulted in a few square inches of epoxy as the surface, instead of balsa. This is likely to get worse as some of the repairs present an uneven surface, so I intend to smooth off with microballons filled epoxy. I have some old solarfilm and whilst I don't intend to use it for this model (as I have other plans for it) the instructions say specifically that non-porus surfaces "can" be treated with balsaloc. I'm hoping to use Hobbyking / 4-Max film for reasons of economy, however am left wondering how that (or any other product) would adhere to non porus surfaces please? It will not stick so I use Cover Grip. Cover Grip – deluxematerials.com Steve

Engine Doctor
Plus 1 for cover grip. If you have any or can lay you hands on some them Clearcote by sSolarfilm is an excellent heat activated resin fuel proofer and adhesion enhancer for covering. Its still available but has to be collected from their shop. For some reason they won't post ?
Keith Billinge
I would try thinned out PVA Glue. Paint it on the surface and allow it to dry. KB
Don Fry
Haberdashers (for the more masculine hunks here, that a shop for cloths makers), sell heat activated interlining adhesive. I’ve used it in the past and I always thought it was balsaloc, worked the same. I might add, for aircraft covering.
Graham Bowers
Many thanks for varied replies, all noted. I've aquired a bottle of cover grip, so will be giving it a go.
Martin McIntosh
I would beware of Covergrip as it swells up balsa and does not sand down well. It ruined the finish on my TN Concorde. Slightly thinned PVA is your best bet.
Graham Bowers
Thanks for the "heads-up" Martin. It's adhesion to epoxy repairs of a few square inches of area that are my main concern. I'll do the required experiments.
