Peter Jenkins
3 F3A pilots and their machines at our Club this afternoon. Although we had the occasional light shower we were only really stopped for about 10 mins. Some useful feedback to each other on areas to improve on. Was particularly useful having input from the UKF3A chief judge. More practice needed but we hope we're practicing the right thing!
leccyflyer
Good afternoon on the slope. The forecast was for 15-16mph, but on climbing the hill it was obviously much stronger than that. The base windspeed never fell below 22mph and for most of the time it was over 30mph, with sustained gusts up to 38mph. That made launching a real challenge and I suffered a couple of cartwheels across the slope. Once away from the close-in turbulence the lift was stellar and we enjoyed some good long flights, with enough energy to chain together lots of aeros. Bob's Canterbury Sailplanes Eraser was the pick of the bunch, but Geoff's Blob and X-cite went really well, as did my DAW Me109. Gave the Zagi a rare outing and that also really suited the conditions, We all came home with everything intact after a fine afternoon's soaring.
Martin Harris - Moderator
All our wind must have been diverted to you. We had the most delightful conditions, tempered only by rather subdued light for most of the afternoon and a very short spell of drizzle. Tim Flyer
Our runway was good today but the worms had made quite a few casts on it that ended up under the wings… However that certainly didn’t spoil today’s great conditions. I took the opportunity to do some flying with my Galaxy Mystic before we get more wind and rain 😊

Eric Robson
Breezy this morning, then very gusty. Maidened my Warbirds Replicas Spitfire today, it flew well but on the 3rd flight the wind became very gusty and on landing it was flipped over. Took the motor and mount out . Almost ready to fly again.
GrumpyGnome
Good day at WHMFC near the coast in the East Riding Of Yorkshire. Arrived at 11:30. Kevin assembling his big beautiful Yak (videos posted previously), and Kev his W4XL and Phoenix Spitty. Mimimal SW wind, and sunshine! Got breezier, cooler, and wind swung to South during the course of the day.... Kevin flew his Yak, SLEC Funfly, and DSM F3A model (name unknown) which did huuuuuge aeros with its pumped YS61 and pipe. Few 'buttock clinching' moments landing the Yak, when there was no wind to slow it down! (Our little sub-committee all agreed our proposed new field layout would help....) Kevs W4 did what Wotties do. His Spitty went well, with a few undercarriage niggles. I flew my W4 (now with a GPS gizmo, which I forgot to turn on!), and my tatty Double Trouble, which has trim lifting everywhere.. Duncan flew his W4XL with its big, mud collecting wheels and shiny DLE30. We had a break while Ian mowed the worm casts, but until about 15:30, every model flown was ic powered. Most unusual. As I was packing up, Mike arrived to do some silent BigFoot flying, and Phil arrived just to chat. Excellent day. Must make sure my phone is charged for photos next time....

John Muir
Hey Leccyflyer, I was up Pole Hill this morning. Supposed to be less windy today but it was still very blowy! I had a Wild Thing and a rather inappropriate Weasel with me. The Thing was fine but I had a heck of a job getting the Weasel away. It either slapped down in front of me or flipped up and back over my head. Once it was out in smooth air it flew surprisingly well although it was struggling to penetrate as the wind strengthened later. There was no shortage of lift and I had a couple of peregrines zooming about for a while. Great fun.
leccyflyer
Hi John - it was quite a challenge just to get 20 feet out from the front of the slope into the smooth air yesterday, but once out there it was superb. The falcons were out yesterday as well.
Nick Cripps
Another day out flying waterplanes, this time at the shared BWA/LMA lake at Billing, Northampton. Hopefully this short video of the Sea Stormer in action works (credit Graham Stanley). VID-20241027-WA0006.mp4

Futura57
What a cracking day at Epsom Downs Race Course today. Hardly a breath of wind, sunshine and blue skies. 15 EDMAC members registered on our little Web page and other members turned up who didn't use the Web page. 20+ in all. Easily 40+ models covering electric and IC power, helis, fixed wing, ducted fans, twins, biplanes, gliders, deltas the lot. Including my Strange Quark VT EDF which, because of the lack of wind, managed to sink to the ground following my hand launch before I could get my thumb on the right hand gimbal. A little tug of up elevon and she slid along the grass a few feet then leapt back into the air. A real Barnes Wallace bouncing takeoff. I did have an unfortunate brown out with my Spektrum equipped CAP232 which survived a death dive with surprisingly little damage. That will need some looking at. Anyway, a good day was had by all. There was also a strong public interest today with a couple of interested folk having a try on the buddy lead. Sorry, no flying pictures, but these should give a flavour of the turnout. Paul Geelhoed
some people avoid the sun but we play with it. we are flying on a landstroke between waterways, located near the coast and the location is very influenced by weather. this was one of those days with no rain and a lot of sun.
Richard Harris
We had a bit of a get together at my patch in Kidderminster on Sunday, weather was pretty much perfect which encouraged a few more from quite a distance to attend. I guess around 40 autogyros present along with fixed wing and one paramotor, I didn't take many photos as it was none stop flying most of the time, but here are a few:
leccyflyer
Incredible weather for the time of the year in NE Scotland - almost like a proper Summer's day and with not a breath of wind, bright sunshine and an excellent turnout with fifteen folks at the field. Had a successful maiden flight with my latest - a Hobbyking Hellcat Reno racer, refinished as an 800 Squadron Hellcat 1 - really nice and stable, with a good turn of speed . No flying pictures as yet, but those will come later in the week. Lots of flying and different models on show, including a maiden of Jim's latest Tony Nihuis Spitfire representing the post-war civil scheme worn by MH434 and it was the perfect day for such a beautiful silver, blue and white livery. Murat was having great fun with his impressive Al Tazar flying wing. Totting up the day's flying turns out that I had a dozen flights with ten different models, not counting a couple that didn't make it into the air. A memorable day. 😎

Tom Gaskin 1
About a dozen Sussex RFC members turned out yesterday to enjoy a quite balmy day, coats were not needed until late afternoon. Predominately electric powered, with the one exception of a petrol powered glider tug. Tom

leccyflyer
Rather unexpected wee trip to the field this morning, for a couple of hours of blue skies, still plenty of low lying mist around, but sunny with broken cloud and a light SW wind, which enabled some decent flying conditions. Mostly a good morning and had the best flight that I've had so far with the FMS Zero, plus a chance to open up the taps on the wee Hellcat and show her paces - pretty rapid and mahoosive loops. A rare "flight" with the Eurofighter, which flicked over on handlaunching, cavorted about the sky, went inverted and went in hard, smashing the nose off. Nothing that a few dabs of Uhu Por and a minute or so won't cure, but I think a recheck of the CG with my 3s1p 3200mah batteries is in order. Adrian Smith 1
Dull and lifeless day, but decided to go flying anyway and wheeled out my little Pilot RC Slick. She can be a bit of a hooligan at times which is good because I was in the mood for it. she is so light that you can almost doing anything with her (and beyond my capabilities). Great morning and by the looks of it tomorrow is a goer too 😁
martin collins 1
As in other parts of the country by the sound of it, dull and overcast day but no wind today or for the next few days by the look of it. Went to the strip mid afternoon but still managed four flights on the Magnatilla before the low light levels stopped play for the day. Will be back tomorrow with a different model, got to pack those flights in while the weather is still with us............ Scarf will be added to the Maggi pilot tonight..
