It just feels amazing, to know all my hard earned knowledge will help others in their recovery journies! 😎

MattyB
Yes look what I managed to do yesterday! The mower I borrowed from my neighbour wasn’t ideal as it was quite heavy and not a self propel , but my petrol mower would be too scary and heavy for the immediate future
Dickw
If you are free later this week, my lawn needs mowing as well 😁. BUT That is great news, well done and keep going. 👍 Dick

Dick Except I am not yet cleared to drive yet so couldn’t get myself to jobs as the dvla still haven’t got back to me on whether I passed my visual field test or not! Besides I already have a full time job thanks that pays better than lawn mowing!
MattyB
Damn, the cranioplasty op to repair the hole in my skull has been postponed until 12th Nov because I had Covid last week, even though I’m now resting Covid negative - the surgical team take the risk of infection super seriously obviously! 😢 it’s very disappointing though, as I am desperate to get rid of the rubber helmet once and for all but I just have to tell myself it’s only a few weeks more! Until this is in my noggin! Edited October 8 by MattyB 1
GrumpyGnome
Good grief - that's massive! Not sure what I was expecting, but not that... Fingers crossed you're able to get your skull upgraded on 12th.
payneib
Wonder what that does for the range of your Tx. 🤔😉

Fingers crossed you're able to get your skull upgraded on 12th. It's a big hole - ~4" at the widest point! and the plate has to be screwed into the bone either sode, so a large overlap is required Edited October 9 by MattyB

MattyB Posted Wednesday at 18:32 Author Share Posted Wednesday at 18:32 (edited) So… On Thursday last week I finally went in for my cranioplasty (skull repair operation which had already been cancelled twice previously in November, first when I got Covid and second the night before because someone else needed the emergency craniectony surgery I had back in February. So as a result I now basically look like a nightclub bouncer but my head is a much nicer shape again and it no longer pulses in and out when I chew! And I also have no less than 74 staples in my head until 20th December. Edited Wednesday at 18:33 by MattyB 7

PatMc Posted Wednesday at 19:56 Share Posted Wednesday at 19:56 Really great to see your smiling face Matty, after what you've been through 👍 I had a prostate TURP (rebore) operation 9 days ago but it pales into insignificance compared with your adventure. Mind you they fitted me up with an industrial size catheter to keep me company for a week before kicking me out. No pictures you'll be happy to note 😁
Declan Posted Wednesday at 20:13 Share Posted Wednesday at 20:13 (edited) Matty I've just picked up this thread and it looks like you have had quite a journey after your stroke. I'm 54 and have had a pacemaker for the last nine years. I was lucky that my heart irrgularity was picked up as one of the possible consequences of it not being treated would have been a stroke. I'm on medication now to protect against that and I'm regularly monitored by the doctors. As many here have experienced, being long term ill is very draining and sometimes it's our hobbies that allow us to 'forget' our other worries. I sincerely wish you a successful recovery. For the record my lawn is artificial so no mowing needed. Edited Wednesday at 20:17 by Declan
