Don Fry
Matty please consider this. If rejected this is your choice because only one person can make it, you. You are being pulled in every direction, your responsibilities to life, your family, work, greater family, friends. I suggest a bit of selfishness. Matty time, for the therapies. Cos I suspect, the people who are your life, want you better, the best you can be. They don’t object to slow progression, or the time out, to progress. I have to say this, as I write, I would not want to be in your shoes, but you are. Set your path forward.

And I just did this jigsaw of my daughters left handed with an oven glove on my right to prevent cheating!

Robert Cracknell
Matty Many years ago had open heart surgery to correct a heart defect from birth and my GP actually bought me a bottle of scotch when I got home! Heart problems have revisited me and I now have an enlarged heart, a pacemaker and type 2 diabetes and now it is all things in moderation. I go on and am still enjoying life as I hope in time you will do. All the best. 2
john davidson 1
When in for my heart op a nurse actually came round the evening before offering everyone a dram of whisky, very welcome , obviously to help sleep. Some grateful patient had left a legacy for this. Next day after the op the same was offered but when I put the glass to my lips unfortunately that was as far as i got.
MattyB
And now I have a bionic leg! Check this out - I have a new electrical stimulator that does the job of my old foot orthotic only way better and lifts my ttoes for me when I step forward to defeat my drop foot . Fiendishly brilliant or what! Anit is already training my brain to provide the right signal s to get the tire lift to happen naturall in only 48 hrs!. Remarkable technology and it means I am walking more naturally than at any other point since my stroke to will post a video of it in in test mode ina moment so you can see the effect it ha, but because of the tiny heel switch stick my d shoe the toe lift gets triggered at the correct pointin my gait pattern each time! Cool hey! The photo is off the little eel switch in my trainer which connects back to the unit on my belt via a tiny wire though in more recent versions that switch is so ok ardently wireless. Video to follow in a bit once or is uploaded to YouTube Edited August 23 by MattyB

MattyB
More successful flying with Dad on Friday evening at my location this time, anwe are off for another go later today and the modified longer stx sticks seem a big improvement though long term I still think moving to mode 2 may be easier for me, but at the moment I want to continue with mode 1 as practicing the fine dexterity needed to controll the elevator with my left hand is probably good for me!!! My OT who came to do a therapy session with me this week told me I am not allowed to t to nose 2 to make it easier, as she thinks the finger motor control needed for my left hand to do the elevator is excellent therapy!! 😊
MattyB
Hi everyone, just wanted to share that I have done a homework project to try and pass on all the things I have learnt from this experience to other patients who suffer a neurological injury: https://tinyurl.com/neurorehabguide 6

Nick Cripps
That looks an excellent resource, Matty. Congratulations on completing this, it shows what progress you have made since your injury. Let's hope it can provide inspiration to others who may be unfortunate enough to suffer such a life-changing experience.
MattyB
More milestones coming thick and fast at the moment…! Two days ago I carried my toast upstairs in my weak left hand on a relatively heavy chin plate., Then today via the amazing powers of the functional electrical stimulato device that is retraining my brain to prevent foot drop from happening , I walked without my stick at all from the kitchen to the lounge whilst carrying a cup of coffee in my stronger right hand! Yeeeesssss! That is an enormous milestone that hugely extends how independent I can be at home. Edited September 19 by MattyB

Though as you can see the toaster settings need some further refinement!!! 😂😂

I was over the moon when I succeeded in opening a tin of beans with one and a half hands to go under another slice of toast.
