Futura57
I just acquired a Moki 135 powered 72-inch span biplane, 60-inches long. The wings look to be foam veneered and the fuselage sides appear to be lite ply. Tail feathers are pretty solid too. The whole thing feels very robust. I would like to get a cowling, otherwise I will have to fabricate one myself. Anyway, can you identify the model for me? Puffin (the cat) isn't talking to me since his full body shave. Thanks
john stones 1 - Moderator
An oldish Pitts SB-4, from who I dunno, nice though.

Futura57
10 minutes ago, Antony R said: Curgil Aviation Bipablast? Never heard of it! Google is yielding very little: A RCM&E review in 1988 (allegedly), but no details or images. Plus a 2012 topic on this forum with photobucket images which are no longer available. So I can't verify if it is or not. If it is then it really is an obscure old design with little prospect of getting a new cowling. Anyone any thoughts? RottenRow
2 hours ago, Antony R said: Curgil Aviation Bipablast? There is one on the BMFA Classifieds at the moment. https://classifieds.bmfa.org/acadp_listings/biperblast Originally from the late ‘80s, from a small UK manufacturer whose names were Curtis and Giles. I don’t remember any subsequent models from them. If the mystery model is one of these you won’t get a cowl from the manufacturer now. Perhaps someone like Carbon Copy or Vortex Vacforms will have something that will fit it. Brian.
Futura57
On the one hand, I feel I'm being hijacked. On the other hand, perhaps we could reuse this topic for identifying all members' unknown models going forward? 1 hour ago, SIMON CRAGG said: While we are on the topic, anybody any idea what model this is please? 65" Wingspan, 51" Long. It could be the same as my newly acquired biplane which, incidentally, I purchased from a BMFA ad just a couple of days ago, but now deleted. Thanks for the suggestion @RottenRow

I'm pretty sure that is a Viceroy made by Masterline, (I think). I had one years ago... flew very well.
SIMON CRAGG
Sorry to sabotage the thread, but seemed a good idea at the time!. Anyway, pretty sure it is the Viceroy, thx everybody.

I have a faint memory they used to make a smaller version too 60" ish but could be wrong, they used to have a display slot at Much Marcle and fly a pair of the larger ones with smoke, very impressive flat spins on full throttle, hardly lost any height, they weren't around for many years though I'm sure. Lindsay Todd
Yes there was a smaller version as I had one, I think around 52 or 54 inch span, i had an Enya 46 4stroke in it and painted up in the colour scheme of Kermit Weeks 'Weeks Solution' (see pic of full size) flew very well and a friend at our club had the bigger 72 inch version with i think a ST2000 in it, again flew very well. I will get an internal shot and measure the span. The top wing mounting looks pretty distinctive and I figured it would be the biggest clue for somebody who knows the model. Andy Stephenson
Definitely a CG model, the cabane structure gives it away.

Geoff S
I think it's a Great Planes kit-built one. It looks very like one I sold a few weeks ago. Do the interplane struts simply slot into the wings? Mine flew very well with an Irvine 53. I only sold it because it was too difficult to convert to electric. Futura57
Some photos of the fuselage structure and wing strut fixings, if it makes identification definitive...
Andy Stephenson
As I said before it is a Carl Goldberg Ultimate. I build one of these so I can say definitively this is it.
