Rocker
Blimey £25 to get into Weston Park this year I must be becoming like Scrooge in my old age .Just been to a fantastic model show last weekend at Old Warden .Free to get in.Think I be giving Weston Park a miss this year🤔

Ron Gray
I wouldn’t say that Old Warden model show is really in the same league as Weston Park. Whilst the trade presence was a bit better this year it’s still very poor and the RC flying, which I thoroughly enjoy taking part in, is much more low key than the models on show at Weston, in fact it’s really a club fly-in.
Rocker
That is true about Old Warden model show being more of a fly in and you can not really compare it to Weston Park Model Show but Elveninton LMA Model show in August ,entrance fee £15.Think that is about right .It most properly me beeing a tight old grumpy git but I think £25 is a bit much for a Model show but I expect Weston Park will be busy and good luck to them .Just not for me
David P Williams
I’ve always gone to Weston Park as it’s my local show. It’s always been the most expensive show in the country and I prefer to wait until the last minute to decide which day based on weather, so don’t normally buy an advance ticket. They’re £20 and it seems they are on sale until 9am the morning they relate to, so might still stump up and go. Alternatively I might go to LMA Sleap up the road for £
Ron Gray
I do agree that £25 is a bit on the steep side, especially when travel costs are added.
Zflyer
Maybe expensive but consider you have acpipleof full size displatsand the evening pyrotechnics!!! I am sure that those have suffered price rises so its reflected 8n the admission fee. I will be attending just have to see which days weather offers less rain!
john stones 1 - Moderator
Weston Park offers much more than an LMA event (My opinion) £25 for a day and evenings entertainment, compared to many events held by other interests it's far from unreasonable. Cosford gone, Nats ? various other events gone, as the saying goes "Use it or lose it". Was always my favourite show of the year, sadly I can no longer go.

Of all the years i went to Weston Park Considering from Kent is a just over 200 mile trip each way one thing I've never factored ito it is fuel costs i the same way I never factor in the cost of petrol when also travelling a long way to pick a model up which my newest plane i bought a month ago came from Shrewsbury the plane cost me £240 which some wud say once the petrol is factored in thats then a say £300 model..... NOPE... its a £240 model ... we was hoping to go to Weston Park this year but we have other things going on that weekend Edited May 27 by GaryW

Phil Cooke
Personally, for the Saturday in particular when you have the night show option combined with a full day of orchestrated model flying - including full size participants! - you really can't grumble at £25 surely. It costs me more than that to go to watch Derby County with my lad these days, thats just a couple of hours of entertainment when they win, or frustration when they dont. £25 is also the price of a tube of half decent 5 minute epoxy these days... come on gents! Learner
Its 2024 not 1964 nothings cheap. Fairford air show £75 British grand prix £309 Pint of Guinness in my local £6.30 There's even someone selling a bit of foam for a model stand on classifieds for £37😉 You pay the price (if you can afford it) or you sit at home.
Cuban8
I've never been to Weston Park, but from what I've seen of it on YT, it looks to be a really good show - for goodness sake £25 for a day out is hardly bank breaking these days even with the other additional costs added unless one is really down and out. £25 just about gets you two large fish suppers and a couple of gherkins from my local chippy!!!Life's too short folks - not saying blow the lot and don't give a fig, just give yourself a treat now and again before it's too late. Paid £160 for two tickets in the stands at Donington for the upcoming World Superbike round. Always a value judgement. BTW, I've got some photos of an OW Scale Weekend taken around 1980 or so - the attendance was huge - three deep spectators at the fence hundreds of models and dear old Dave Bishop conducting the proceedings - will post 'em up if I can find them. Now that is good value for money.

RottenRow
Yawn. Same old whinge as last year, actually almost the same opening post. ‘You pays your money and makes your choice’…. or not as the case may be. No one is forced to go. Just don’t go…. I also enjoyed the recent OW weekend, much helped by the weather, but as others have said it is very different event to Weston Park. All model flying events are to be encouraged, in my opinion. Brian. 6
Cuban8
As I've become older I've found that the attraction of going to model shows has diminished for me. it's really not the money aspect, but I guess watching others fly (no matter how good they or their models are) doesn't really excite me any more. I have access to some very, very good flyers and spectacular models in my club so a show would have to be very special indeed to get me to go. Not sure any are. I've seen the Nats at it's very best and used to camp for the weekend , same with Old Warden where I've flown several times. With the exception of an LMA event, I doubt if I'd bother with any of the shows again - unfortunately the LMA shows do seem a tad thin on the ground within an hour or so's drive from N. Essex. I used to enjoy Cosford, and as I've mentioned before, I would include the show in with a weekend or longer stay with family nearby. I wouldn't go otherwise. I understand that the future of that show is very much in doubt.
martin collins 1
As others have said use it or lose it, Wings & Wheels was always my favourite show after the Nats, mainly due to the venue and excellent bring & buy, both of these are now gone for different reasons. I always attend Old Warden and take in at least one LMA show, i would have gone to Weston but it is on the sacred weekend of the year for me, Le Mans 24 hour race, i will be camped in front of the TV on Eurosport from Saturday morning till the race finish on Sunday afternoon. Beers and Frites will be consumed in abundance........

I have just come back from a fly-in at Longhorsley which is a 600 mile round trip and cost me the best part of £140 in diesel and why? Great bunch of friendly flyers flying everything from a foamy Riot to two big LMS size Lancaster's and everything in between Access to site Wednesday and departed this morning Flying from 10 am to 8 pm I damaged model and someone gave me some epoxy, another person hunted around in the long wet grass and found a missing ply part Bought a Menz 18x8 prop for a fiver Used the clubhouse pillar drill and tools They do a BBQ on Saturday night And the scenery is quite impressive, yes it rained, yes it was windy, but not all of the time Not open to the public so best to bring a model to fly and join the rest of us View from the far side of the runway, if you can't land on that, best go to Specsavers! GaryW
£25....... Cheaper than a gallon of glow fuel....... & wudnt even get a decent 4S Lipo Being a forner show flier myself flying at Wings & Wheels & the original Southern model Show ( Hop Farm ) & helping out behind the scenes at Weston park for a couple of years & the Eastnor Castle Show 10 yrs ago,,, The majority of the paying public never get to see & appreciate what goes on behind the scenes to get ready for a show and the running of a show,,, Friggin long hours and even longer days and thats not even half of it ,, just to be a flier at a show is a long day,,, Weston Park now is if not the biggest show in the uk now and with everything on offer and the kiond of show Steve Bishop & his whole team work so hard to put on Personally & for that level of show honestly,, £25 is cheap I wud so love to even fly at a show again or even go to weston Park for the day but that kinda long day my health wont really permit me to do anymore,, but as I mentioned in a comment above we was looking to go this year but have other things on that weekend,,, Just for me to go for the day wud mean leaving at 6am and a 4 hour drive to get there for 10am, then by time the night show has finished and we go to the aftershow entertainment in the marque for the evening seeing people and friends we've not seen for a long time leaving around 11pm ish we wudnt get home till 3am the next morning and even with the 1/2 tank of petrol to get there & back and the money we wud no doubt spend at the show through the day wud far out weigh the price of entry but wud be worth every penny just to go,, & also being a former HGV & PCV Driver that kinda day to me is no worse than going to thorpe park or a day out to the coast which we wud probaly spend about the same amount of money as we wud to got to a model show Edited May 28 by GaryW
Ron Gray
Why is it that just because a comment is made that they think £25 is a bit steep a load of you deem it to be whinging. It is someone's (and my) opinion which we have the right to have as you have yours.
