Albert Ace
Over been searching the interweb, and apart from YouTube clips, I cannot find any results for the above. I know Danny Fenton came second with his F4B Chippie; nothing about F4C or H. ? Anybody ?? Albert
Bucksboy
Information has been hard to find, here’s a photo of the final scores. A friend was competing but I’m sure he’d like to update you all about the complications they encountered.
Albert Ace
Hey, old Retro Senn F4C champ. Interviewed him once in Switzerland. A great modeller. GBR looking a bit forlorn. But we'll done to all. Thank you. Albert
Albert Ace
Wander what happened to Luthi ? He was campaigning a different Bucker. Mind you after all his wins, perhaps he's lost a bit of edge.

Martin Dilly 1
A point which may have been a slight handicap to the British team is that, as we are no longer in the European Union, the team's models were impounded at Bucharest airport customs as the point of arrival into the EU, and were held as being possibly for sale. Large four-figure sums were apparently involved for each and the models were finally extracted too late to compete in all rounds. Many years ago the FAI issued customs carnets for models specifically to avoid this (I'm talking in the 1970s), but now they are only available commercially at around £125 each. What a tangled web we weave... Still you can have a black passport now (printed in Poland...)

Bucksboy
In summary F4H is judged from 5m away, F4C is 'Museum quality' and the Judges inspect the model far more closely.

They must have known they'd run into EU bureaucracy. Seems as though they made a rod for their own backs? For future use they might find this of some value https://taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu/customs-4/customs-procedures-import-and-export-0/what-importation/specific-use_en Edited August 24 by Cuban8
Bucksboy
The models were couriered over following advice from the airlines. The Romanians supplied the details of a person to be added to the Customs form in advance, the receiver. When the models arrived, Romanian Customs tried to contact the receiver to confirm they were coming in and then out again. However, the receiver has disappeared and no one could contact him. When enquiries were made to unclog the blockage, the Romanian organisers were less than helpful. Their attitude was that the UK team could just pay the import taxes and the problem would go away. However, this was nigh on £3,000. When the UK team went to Customs they could act as receiver for their own planes and the models were released. The Swedish team drove their van to Customs to collect the models, a fantastic effort. But the delays meant that the Brits did not make their three flights. Here’s the team.
