bert baker Posted September 12 Share Posted September 12 I’ve recently been given a NGH 35 it has come to me as a rear exhaust I have no clue if it was like it from new or if it was converted A chum said that the rear exhaust option requires a new piston I can only assume my piston is ok what was dit to the side exhaust piston setup logic would think is the piston ring gap location peg but are there other slight mods to the skirt how would I be able to tell Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Manish Chandrayan Posted September 13 Share Posted September 13 (edited) Yes the pistons are different for the side exhaust and rear exhaust configurations. The piston cutouts are different. The first picture is side exhaust piston. Second from rear exhaust version. Pictures from NGH instructions manual that came with my engine. The new engine from factory came with both options in the box and the user could change from one to another prior to first start and run in procedure.
