Warbirds Replicas BF110

Here we got for the second run of this big twin . The original batch ,produced a few years ago only ran to about 25 kits as, of course , a Luftwaffe twin is not everyone's first choice .

However , it does have a lot going for it . Very quick build , with lots of straight lines , foam veneer decks and foam veneer wings plus lots of plastic covers and panels .

Its a proven flyer . Ron has probably over 100 flights on his electric version and I have even more on the original Four stroke variant .

We did have our own retracts made in a machine shop for the first batch , but to keep practicality up , and price down I have been experimenting with a much simpler system this time . Seems to be working well and could be a bit of a break through for the future . (more on that later ) .

There will be two cowl options . The early C/D option and the later G . If you dont have a particular reason to do the early one , I suggest the G model . It gives you more room and spinner options are more available (if you know where to look!) .

Personally , I would use the colour schemes from the early version like the "Wasp " but on the G variant . It will still look great .

I would, especially after last weekend, but I've got one of the original 25 up in the loft.  I checked it the other day, it's in perfect condition.  It's no. three in the build list.

1.  Finish off the Boulton Paul Defiant.

2. Build Aichi Val from plans.  Why the Val?  It's got a huge elliptical wing and fixed undercarriage.

3.  Then the Bf110.

But I'll watching with interest!

Leccy , can you put up some suitable profile options please ?

Will do. 🙂

Of course I do have a particular reason to do the early version, so I'll opt for that, with all the trimmings bar decals, since I've got the taste for airbrushing the markings rather than using stickers now, even though it's a laborious process.

Lovely schemes . Like I say , for those that are no entering a scale comp , dont get hung up on the right scheme for the right model .

If I do get time to make one , I was thinking of doing G cowls and spinners with black and white spiral spinners (or yellow) on something like 3u+KT shown above , but because I like to mix it up , I was going to add the Italian style green squiggles . Now I know that's a bit non scale for the rivet counters , but I do know that many of the Luftwaffe fighters went out to Africa in dark, western front, colours and were repainted in paint provided by the Italians on site . The Fw190 Jabo bombers were a good example of being refinished as if Italian .

I think 3U-KT in the Med colour scheme is one of the prettiest of the 110 colour schemes on show. AS I already have a Wespe grey and blue Bf110.my WR one will have to be a Battle of Britain aeroplane and I've just ordered the two part profile on the 110 units in the Battle, so will either pick from one of those or, at the moment, M8 AC with the shark's mouth and green spinners is in pole position.

Hi,

I like the look of this image.thumb.png.4ec2a432b72712157b305a49765b4ab2.png

G version cowls with what looks like black spinners ..curly whirly if you have them! Motors UC and decals if you can do them, anything I might have missed?

Plenty of yellow so I might be able to see mine amongst anything else flying about!

PS might go for a smaller than scale tail wheel though 🤣

These 110s are 72" and a full kit in the proper sense . An equivalent size twin from our two main competitors would total £350 .

This run will be priced at £249 each . Any future run will have to be a bit more . They will usually be electrically powered but are very much at home with 52 four strokes .

I think Murat may also have said something but cant remember if he already had one stashed .

I suppose the Germans knew that, that’s why they painted them like it.

I'd definitely be doing desert schemes on anything German - essentially orange! 😂

When would you need paying, and would you PayPal invoice?

The kits will probably cut in the next couple of weeks . But I never ask for money in advance . I know all of the guys who have put their hands up , so we have a mutual respect about me committing to making them based on their request . I will ask for payment generally when the kit is ready to send out .

The tricky bit is the numbers . I dont wont to leave someone out because I never know if I will ever make any more , but equally I dont wont to pay a shed load of money to the kit cutter and have kits hanging around after . Pay pal , green shield stamps or goats and sheep are the usual currencies . 😬

Here is a picture Ive posted before , but for those of you that missed it , this is my fourstroke powered version which is well past its sell by date.

G version of course , in nightfighter role . I didnt fit the antlers to it but I did on the Ju88 . For those brave enough to try it , we 3D printed the antlers giving them quite a lot of flex but then provided two nose cones with the Ju88 so that most of the time you could fly without them . Worked well as the nose was just held with magnets .

So for showing off and photos , on went the antlers !

Apologies to Leccy for amateur photo shop of 110 left leg that was hanging down .Air retracts leaking .
