We had to take our coats off, windier today and cooler, 3 flyers only, I did spend 4hours there.

Eric Robson
Flying my Me110 yesterday in strong winds showed the weakness of using a 3s battery, it flew well but had to be flat out against the wind. Reducing the air time to 6 minutes on the good batteries and 5 on the older ones. I would advise on following Richard's set up with 2 4s batteries. I will try a 4s battery but I will have to change the props, at the moment my only 4s batteries suitable are 4000s which will not give a long flight but I will find out if its worth getting 5 or 6000 batteries. leccyflyer
Good info there Eric - sounds like you would have been easy pickings for any passing Hurricane.

Ron Gray
I flew mine on 2 x 4s 4000mAh packs and that was a very good setup with enough power on hand to handle most conditions I flew it in.

Chris Walby
Eric, Sorry but I don't see you logic regarding " moment my only 4s batteries suitable are 4000s which will not give a long flight but I will find out if its worth getting 5 or 6000 batteries." Earlier you posted 3S5000 so unless you are using two 3S5000's in the nose I assume you are using just one 3S5000. On that basis how does two 4S4000 (8Ahr) not add up to more than one 3S5000 (5Ahr) plus you are getting 25% watt hours because of the increased voltage between 3S and 4S. Even if you are using two 3S5000 then two 4S4000 still equates to more watt hours (like 6% more). Or have I got it all wrong again 🙃
Eric Robson
Hi Chris, at present I am flying it with 1 3s 5000 In the nose. I've had 6 flights today and it performed well with wind speeds of 8 to 10 mph. Yesterday in stronger winds I had to fly most of the flight on full throttle. Today on my 5000 batteries I had 6 minute flights and on two 4000 3s batteries I had 4.5 minutes but still had 35% left in them. I was considering a single 4s in the nose, but as I have 6 3s 5000 and 2 3s 4000 I will stick to that set up.

RICHARD WILLS
Marvellous ! Even sounds real in slow motion . I note that your fellow members have a rather casual approach to runway etiquette, and they all seem to be wearing the same jumpers . Aran , by the look of it ? We must presume that there is an excellent local outlet . 😬

leccyflyer
This forum badly needs a Heart symbol on the Like button. That's magnificent Eric - such a scale speed and I guess the low pass is to warn the runway occupants to clear the way for the landing?

One of our members thought the shadow and the swish of air may make them think its a bird of prey. He had noticed an Ic model coming in dead stick over them made them run.

I've seen Mark on YouTube and I'm experimenting with his polyester covering on my tail surfaces. I've also often thought that the wind turbines look really close on YouTube but I guess that's a bit of an optical illusion and they're just really big. Father Ted cows joke scenario.
