Lightweight Model Identification

Recommended Posts

Received this well built lightweight model from a fellow club member, who, unfortunately, I presently can't contact at present.  To give me some more information, can anyone identify the model?   I'm wondering is it built from a kit, or a scratch build from plans? 42" wingspan.  2S ESC.IMG_7650.JPG.07ae27dae8548ac051012e924aea140b.JPG

I wondered if it would be suitable for our indoor sessions in the local hall?  Maybe a bit big?

Any information welcomed!

Tosh - it looks like a scratch built version of the GWS Pico/Lite Stik, using GWS components. In comparison the Pico Stik is 38" span, but can be flown in a decent sized indoor venue. I just refitted a receiver in my Pico Stik last week and flew her outoors in preparation for commencement of our indoor sessions in November. I think the hall might be a wee bit narrow, but used to fly the Pico Stik indoors many years ago.

They did a half size version of the Lite Stik with that shape of tail surfaces, but about 16" span IIRC. The original was a classic parkflyer in it's day, with the round fin/rudder and scalloped trailing edges. I've had three of them and they are lovely gentle flyers. It can help for indoors to add a tight Kevlar thread to hold the wingtips up and provide more dihedral.

Here's my latest Pico Stik on the bench a while back - you can see many of the shared components there.

..and the original, hanging up. Back in the day of 6 cell sub AAA NiCds for power, The wee geared GWS IPS motors did provide plenty of power for gentle flight with these lightweight models.

Now, that's what you call a vintage power supply Leccy!  Very nice looking model!  Many thx for the heads-up (yet again!)  Looks quite similar to the one I'm showing, but yours look like built up wings, whereas this one has a curved aerofoil profile in Depron.  What Rx are you using?  I've still to locate one- probaly a Lemon ltwt.

No built up wing Tosh, an undercambered wing shaped from depron, as an injection moulding. The latest has a Frsky VR4 -II receiver, mounted on the wee plastic platform on top of the stick. I flew on Tuesday with a 2s1p 450mah lipo, the IPS geared motor and 8x4.3" GWS SlowFly prop. I'll probably bring the Pico Stik to the field on Tiesday, as it looks to be quite calm on the forecast.
