Steve Webb Models - gone.

I think the link to contact gives some possible ideas why it might have closed.  See what their business is.....

We all hope that Webbs will restart in some way don't we?    A business with a great reputation and countrywide customer base might be sold or restructured.  Lets hope.

Was expecting ripmax to reappear, but not happened yet,

Why do you say that? They have never disappeared. On page 13 of the November BMFA News they have a full page ad.

I'm sorry to see Webbies go, they were my local model shop and they will be missed. The local Clubs' WhatApp groups all express surprise and sorrow. Best wishes to the Directors & employees for the future.

Hi everyone.

I just purchased a Tony Ray kit (SE5a) and it arrived today.

Instructions were to be downloaded via the ServoShop website ... And of course I found the closure notice....

Does anyone have any idea where I can find the instructions.... a trawl through hasn't come up with anything I can find online.

As others, Webbies became my LMS. From a situation of being spoilt for choice 25 years ago, to Webbies, 60 miles away, 120 round trip.

I was convinced that Webbies would out last me, providing outstanding service. At the first floor level I would spend an hour or so with the farther (I think) chatting, whilst he wrapped mail order parcels. From the ceiling hung many FF scale rubber models. The stock being very comprehensive.

Often, together with my wife we would head onto the high street to one of the modern Gastropubs, all part of the experience. There was one day not to go, that was the day when the ship was closed and Market Day.

It is a surprise, what with Ripmax, or is it Budget related. At the end of the day, a worthwhile profit is required to keep trading. I can only surmise, that there are not enough of us, or some other issue. Why, because Webbies were outstanding, in all respects. They had no challengers in the North West of England.

Now there is Leeds remaining for the whole of the North of England, with similar standing.

I read that a number of small businesses have decided or reported they have stopped trading, as a consequence of the resent budget. It seems somehow related to death duties.

If true, I wonder what other implications are going to impact on our hobby, perhaps our lives.
