A 2012 2000 kv with a 6x3 running on a 3s will easily match / out perform a Cox. I  use a 2750 KV with a 6x3 on a 1m span glider wnd vertical performsnce is outstandind. Pow is from a 1200 mah 3s . I get 15 to 20 min flight times easily as max power is only used for climout.

Lms sell motors for around £15 but can be found on the net for around £4 If you can wait for delivery.

Pic below model is light as it all foamwith carbon reinforning your glider will tame it some but thrust is far greater than a cox.

An .049 engine will give you anywhere between 50 and 100 watts depending upon the exact engine, prop and fuel used. Looking at the Outerzone plan it shows the motor mounted on a power pod above the wing which, presumably, is reason for the prop diameter limitation.

The model weight is up to 2 Lbs so 50 watts will give a very gentle performance, with 100 watts it will be a bit more enthusiastic.

For a 6" prop you will be looking for a motor of around 1800 to 2200 Kv running on a 3s battery. Something like this:

A 15A rated ESC should be adequate and provide enough current to drive 2 small analogue servos for rudder and elevator.
