Lipo fires.

Recommended Posts

I have just had two battery’s catch fire on consecutive charges so I think my charger must be faulty. I was monitoring the second one. The charger beeped to indicate full charge, then the battery just burst into flames. Luckily I charge outside. Won’t be using that charger again! It is an IMAX B6 and is less than 5 months old!

I live in a flat while my house is being refurbished (been nearly 4 years now🤪) and this makes me quite paranoid

I currently only have 1s lipos max mah ~400 and keep them in a batsafe box in my studio which has a fair amount of balsa tissue books and other flammable stuff. Don’t really have anywhere outside where the good Scottish weather wouldn’t get to them.

planning to have an outside box to store and charge outside once back in my house which should be this year.

Yep - the Bat Safe is a great piece of gear if you have to charge indoors. I use two of them, each with a charger mounted on top and charging one battery at a time. One charger is pretty much set at 2.2amps and 2200mah and churns through the most common battery type, whilst the other deals with everything else and so has it's parameters changed all the time. They are working in the background whilst I am in the workshop doing other things.
