  1. Hi Martin I have forwarded your interesting comment on to my club mate. And yes you're right Perkins are no very user/ customer friendly when it comes to this sort of issue as I have found on previous occasions. Anyway what do we know we are only customers valued for our credit cards!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again for your input Iain
  2. Lost half of one aileron during a flight yesterday (Sat 31 Mar) I need some help in drawings etc to build a replacement as Perkins can only supply a pair of replacement wings £140
  3. Thanks for all the input guys, In reply to the specific issue I raised I was using a wayy meter to measure the power and the Dragon ESCs were supplied by Innwoods who do not usually supply below par items. To overcome the fire wall issue I too removes the captive nuts and used an additional motor mount to sandwich the firewall between the 2 mounts
  4. Had a fews days off to cogitate , bought new kit and flew a few favourite planes. Courier wing back together again, althought heavens knows iff the wash out is the same. put the front end back into alighnment which meant removing the cowl. Not a pretty sight. so just the cosmetics to do . Then it's in the bin or into service with the other toys in the hangar. What odds eh1!! Edited By Chris Bott - Moderator on 08/03/2012 08:46:33
  5. Interested in buying one of these, would like others experience good or bad
  6. Hi Terry Thanks for your comiserations. Could have been a tip stall. I thought with a 900 kv 750 W motor on 3S with a 13x6 prop there would be adequate power measured at 380 W on a watt meter on a static test. It did seem on first flight that a 12x8 prop on 4 S might have been worth a check out but never got that far
  7. Well flew a maiden at the club site on Friday afternoon. Weather conditions perfect. Flight OK after trimming up. That was as good as it got. Second flight she turned over on take off, split side of fuse and broke the wing. Knocked tail out of alighnment Repairing might not be an option due to the nature of the wing washout
  8. an anyone help with a power train issue on the deuces wild. I am running 2x power 32 equivilants from 4Max with identical 60 A dragon ESCs on 4S lipos. The issue is that the starboard prop which should be set up to turn clockwise (as viewed from the front) when powered up runs for about 30 secs then runs as thought it has lost a phase from the ESC, eventually it stops having cooked the ESC. Power measurements on 13x6.5 props do not exceed 32A 500W. The dragon ESCs have an external UBECs but the centre power wire has been disconnected from the RX and each other. The RX is powered from a seperate UBEC driven off the port side battery. Any assistance with this would be appreciated. I have e-mailed Horizon Hobby too on this. PS I too found the supplied spinners to be out of balance
  9. Hi Guys the next pics from me will hopefully be flying the courier. But in response toan earlier mention of poer trains. I am using a KMS 2820/05. I bought two of them for a twin engine project, but needed a little more grunt so one went in the courier and the other one I'am selling on e-bay. Using a 45 A ESC and an 11x7 xoar prop
  10. Well here she is,just the glazing to complete. All avionics retracts etc working. looks like a chunk of lead required up front to get C G as recommended.
  11. Well it appears that after a lot of tweaking and much staring into the distance I have a tail wheel driven off the rudder that functions. Can't say I've got it as elegant as I would have wished but there it is. Retracts and ailerons and the end is in sight. I am going to try and insert the glazing panels into the frames using small tags to locate them into slits, and also re paint the glazing bars black as I had done originally. Matches better with the other side windows.
  12. Terry I see what you mean about the canopy, what a builder, you really are a perfectionist.
  13. Well the weather has stopped building progress, today was clear blue sky no wind and even some warmth from the sun. Great flying this afternoon and tomorrow looks as thought I will have to desert the workshop too.  But just in case you all thought I was slackening off the pace here is where I am up too.Black covering really can show up the imperfections. And I thought I was OK at this building lark !!!
  14. Ps I use a Uni Matt lather, the all metal one not the plastic version
  15. Hi Terry thanks for your comments, I've just come inside from painting the cylinders (copper) we'll see how that looks may change to silver.  Will secure the cowl using cocktail sticks through the outer ng and into the top of every other cylinder. Should make for a strong structure.  I can also still get the motor hatches out for motor removal too.
  16. Terry this all looks very smart., the lathe work looks like it will pay off here is the tria lfit of the cowl before a final fix.
  17. Hi TerryThanks for your comments. The glazing bars were I thought going to be weaker than I would wish so although I beefed them up the finished item I think is alright.  I have started to experiment with turning up some dummy cylinders. will paint them an antique gold. Fuse I thought needs a hatch to enable screw drivers to get at servos for adj. Tomorrow will bash on fitting strobe light wiring, fuse has a coat of balso loc so very close to covering it.
  18. Managed to up load at last the image of fuse progress to date. hopefully the dust can settle now.
