Hi Dave, Is it nearly 4 years old already, it only seems like a year or so ago
Yes, simply glue the cabanes in position. If you wish to add re-enforcement, keep it minimal to keep the weight down. Also, should something untoward happen its best the cabanes break free without causing further structural damage to the fuselage.
Again, a balsa firewall will be just fine. If in doubt laminate with an off-cut of 1mm ply however anything more is overkill and again adding unnecessary weight.
Keep everything as light as possible and it'll fly like a peach - start adding the ounces and you'll have a mini pylon racer on your hands

If its the one in Beds its a bit far for me I'm afraid mate
...Goggle Maps shows a 400mile return trip, not good especially when I'll have been out on the beerz the night before

Great idea with the HK blade mod.
Think I'll do mine - Ive plenty of battle scarred bits left over from "test flights"

The couple of times Mine actually flew were not very successful, took off OK but having reached about 10 feet would not climb any further.
Any comments? Was it the MK1 or the later version with pre-rotator ?. My early one flew like a peach until I retro-fitted the new pre-rotator head assembly.
After that I needed to pin the throttle and fly it like a fixed winger to get anywhere. Think it may have been a combination of the additional weight of the head unit and additional gubbins and maybe friction / binding of the head. unit.

Nice job...looks like racy time

Lol...it could have said much worse !!
It's only 1/4 scale, but plenty big enough for a nice little baby Benson(ish) for next year. The prototype has an EPP foam test pilot in place till I feel he's (I'm) ready to bite the bullet and let him take full control.
Also got one of Rich's Gemini's on the building board for over winter to get my thumbs warmed up
Our local flying field is pretty much under water between now and early spring so time for a bit of building therapy

Thought I'd just drop in my maiden video of the Vulcan
Simply stunning !! . puts some of us to shame
If the Valiant flys half as good as the Vulcan , yer on a winner!
Keep up the great work

Can anybody beat that?
Think I'm on my third or fourth order and each one has arrived within 24hrs
I'll time my next one and see if I can beat you

Yes, just sit them on top then gently sand the lot to give a slightly rounded profile on the tip
