The sound of my laser 70 is very soft and quiet is there a good way to make it sound more sporty

    just take the exhaust off!

what size tube will I need to make a straight pipe. I still will need to take the exhaust out of the model

"the stick wasn't simply a walking stick, but a sword stick" and therein lies the problem. An offensive weapon, illegally carried in a public place. Self Defence/Reasonable Force is a defence available to all but requires the observance of some parameters, such as not using and illegal weapon and not using excessive force when the felon is fleeing (Tony Martin scoring double top in that respect)

was the sword illegal? Mr Osborn-Brooks was not in a public place. If he felt he was in danger of being stabbed by the intruder with a screwdriver it could be argued that stabbing the intruder first is reasonable force that is proportionate to the threat and an act of self defence. Well the authorities will have to make that decision

  3. Many thanks for all the replies. Lots of food for thought there. There is an argument that even with LiFe batteries I should be using a regulator. Maybe Peter is right and I should go with the old adage"if it an't broke dint fix it"

You could experiment (on the ground!) with a low voltage alarm set at 3.3v. With decent batteries you may get a lot of time to land before the voltage drops to 3v and then falls off the cliff. I may try this myself.....

I don't have any telemetry. I think I will try a lipo. It will get rid of the doubt I experience after I have been at the field all day and start to clock up a good number of flights

  5. I did have to smile when a fellow club member saw my laser powered acro wot and suggested I upgraded to petrol. I personally did not see a dle 30 as an upgrade from a laser 70. I do occasionally see newcomers with older glow powers trainer (no doubt because they can be bought cheaply) but as soon a the new modeler fails to start the engine on the first flick the advice now is not how to operate the engine but to bin it and go electric. So I worry no newcomers will see the benifits of glow

  6. I know there are quite a few diehards on this forum who like their glow engines. But glow engines went out of fashion but are there any advantages that still might attract newcomers to the hobby to use them.

I have experimented with all types of models and glow engines are still my prefered choice.

I prefer 60-90 size models. I found charging batteries a bit of a choir especially with the unpredictable weather and I missed the engine sound. Petrol power forced me into larger models that started to get expensive and more difficult to store. Glow at this size model works well for me, simple to install and operate.

I am worried that as they become less popular i will have trouble getting fuel ,engines and parts. Are glow engines still doomed to die out

  7. I have a LiFe battery and it is this I wanted to replace. The reason being there is no reliable way of checking the remaining capacity. your supposed to work out how much power is used per flight and calculate how many flights each battery will give you allowing a reasonable safety margin. but I'm not great at keeping count of flights and would much prefer a reliable method to measure the battery before each flight hence the reason to change to lipo.

you have just reminded me I do have a powerbox sensor switch **LINK** but I always thought it was a bit bulky for my acro wot
