  1. Just over a week out from our Slope Fest ,so I assembled the fleet I'll be taking just to make sure all models are ready ,mind you this photo is missing another 3models that had already been tested and packed up
  2. Looks like a great session was had by all. Ian your going from strength to strength now for some one who only just dripped his toes into the sloping water so to speak ,good onya
  3. I have 2 of the DG1000 both are pure slope flyers and I setup the throws as elevator 7.0mm up and down aileron 15 up 8mm down rudder to aileron mix 75% I also set the ailerons up with a small amount of reflex ,about the t/edge thickness to induce some washout which helps to reduce the Tip stall effect. My second one uses the steel joiner which Ive cut in the centre andwhere it exit the wing root bent to pproduce a little Dihedral which also helps to setlle it doen in the air . Good luck with yours I think for the money are a pretty good value Edited By stephen wenban on 23/08/2011 21:14:02 Edited By stephen wenban on 23/08/2011 21:14:33
  4. P.S another good check for your balance point is the good old dive test get some height point the nose into a shallow dive let the stick go if it pulls out its nose heavy ,if it tucks under its tail heavy . I prefer my balance point netural meaning put into a dive its stays there some prefer it slightly positive so it pulls out very slowly .but that just personal preference
  5. Its actually known as hyperstall and yes a few thing can contribute to the problem Nose heavy requiring excessive reflex to overcome ,combined with elevator throws being to large 6. to 7.0mm max throws up and down is all thats required .   So move your balance point rearward and reduce your reflex and your elevator throws. Ailerons can be as much as you feel comfortable with Edited By stephen wenban on 23/08/2011 21:03:06 Edited By stephen wenban on 23/08/2011 21:03:26
  6. The boys in the Ozskunkworx make them http://www.ozskunkworx.com/
  7. I up loaded a photo of one of my designs called the Sawtooth V2 which has a switch jack fitted ,so you can see how simple the setup is
  8. A switch jack is a much cleaner install in foam than a slide switch and less prone to failure. You do not need a hatch to access the switch and you can charge directly through the switch jack, pull the plug out your on and ready to go ,put the plug in and the system is shut off. You cant accidentally bump the switch off like you can on a normal external mounted switch . They are the perfect switch for foamies Edited By Tim Mackey - Administrator on 15/08/2011 23:02:31
  9. Just out of interest sake and probably information why not just use a Jack plug switch rather than nee to access your standard switch ? so much cleaner and no extra tapey bits to fall off or suffer UV destruction over a few months in the sun ? http://tailwindgliders.com/files/SwitchJack.jpg   easy to make but make sure you use a dc jack not an audio jackEdited By stephen wenban on 15/08/2011 20:52:37
  10. Sounds to me that ,your model was way nose heavy, if it required extra elevator throw for response, Also sounds like the lift on that dune maybe a little questionable. Or perhaps the wind was not all that square to the face ,its not a rounded face is it ? It also sounds to me that you maybe should seek out another slope flyer to actually show you the ropes . Flying slope is not like flying power , this comes as a surprise to many people . The usual causes are wrong model for the slope ,IE: incorrect wing loading for the type of slope, no 2 slopes are the same lift wise , Nose heavy causing the need for huge surface throws to achieve response ( usually stall and fall) these are just a few things to be aware of before throwing caution to the wind so to speak . The fact that you continued shows you have what it takes to become slope trash like me will I'm sure with a bit of proper guidance you'll see why once the slope bug bites everything else tends to pale in comparison. 11. Ian check the link in the Joy of slope thread it may help
  12. Ian, Really sorry about loosing your Zagi but here's just a thought , have you cut foam cores before ? if you have simply cut yourself a set of wings the same size and span as your Zagi ,Except use a PW51 section at 8 or 9% thickness . Even blue foam fibre taped and laminating film covered are tough enough to last . Not as tough as EPP but half the price . Or even tough of course and cheap as chips is corroflute and they fly extremely well here's a link that explains them as and they are tough and pretty much indestructible  just copy and paste the link  below http://www.zipworld.com.au/~dazb/dAzi/dAzi.html Edited By stephen wenban on 08/08/2011 21:25:50 Edited By stephen wenban on 08/08/2011 21:26:29

  14. I can say absolutely that today another slope flyer is born from here on in no lump in the ground will go un-noticed no weekend forecast will be missed short cuts all over the desk top for weather station at different sites and of course the constant urge to have just one more slope machine faster cleaner than the last one. all I can say is welcome to the addiction @import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);@import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  15. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); Tim , I know that feeling ,I'm struggling with IT at the moment after a server Migration has stop critical databases working properly so far it taken 2 weeks and still they haven't worked it out. A simple fix for those with IE9 ,dump it and go back to IE 8 and live happy ever after @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);Edited By stephen wenban on 02/08/2011 19:45:04

  19. Dont worry ,I wont post any video's then, seems strange that it had any effect though as its a standard Vimeo link @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  20. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); Best thing I ever did was to download and use Google chrome, Like I posted to you Tim I doubt its the Vid as its posted and works fine on other forums .@import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);Edited By stephen wenban on 29/07/2011 07:36:56
  21. Exactly what Tim said for me with a JR Tx its 1 servo into channel2 and 1 into aux1 or channel 6,flaperon mix on in wing type. However you may find you still need to reverse 1 channel to get it right but thats what it will be, if its futaba then its channel1 and 6, oh and Hitec is the same as futaba I have 2Jr sets 2 futaba sets and 2 Hitec  lol   Edited By Mark Web Tech on 29/07/2011 09:56:11
