  2. Thanks gary i was just going to start with electric at the moement as i feel this will be the easiest way into the hobby and get flying with little fuss , but what i really want to do is build a plane but at the end of it be able to fly.. i only suggested petrol as i know how to work with them engines being a motor mechanic by trade, i may be able to use my skills there .   Earnie Thanks for the suggestion on the cub i will give it a bit of a google i'll join BMFA when i get my plane is that same place i get insurance hope its not like my car insurance, how will thay asses the risk being that i never flown before sounds expensive.  I did not know about profile thing i will try correct that now  thanks again :D
  3. Sorry if i came across cocky that was not my intention, i only suggested that plane as it was advertised as a trainer but looked nice too maybe this industry should stop advertising thease models as easy to fly ideal for a begginer as it seems every one i suggest is not ideal , and it's not that money is no option as i have only gave myself a £1000 budget to get everything i need to start off, i was just trying to put in to aspect that i normally blow alot more in tires alone in my current hobby i hope you can see were i am comming from ?   E-flight Apprentice looks quite good though
  4. First thing first i would like to thank you for the time you tajken to read my long post, i did miss a big of infomation trying to fit too much in so i pop it down here :D got excited hahaha  I did miss off that i will be getting a trainer plane hopefully somthing that is a real life plane, i am a sucker for reality  / scale. i was looking at a cessna 182 in this months magazine it's on page 12 would this be any good for my need's ?  I started spending a hour a day on flight sim's last week, i managed to get a copy of real flight 4.5 & aerofly pro not sure if thease sim's actually represent true flight , hope it is as it's really easy i do spend 30 mins on landing only doing a take off figure of eight then land 90% of the time  I Have tried to find a Club to join but i couldnt find one in Cardiff Southwales i did try Bmfa's website but all links were dead for my area  I am stil going to go ahead and buy the gunfighter not that i have taking your comments and dissmissed them, getting in on the basis that it is a toy and not a true model with parts avalible and cost's that are so cheap i dont care if i crash, just to put this in perspective of my currenty hobby wich is powerful cars a weekend track day cost's me around £1,000 pound with the event, then fuel , two sets of tyres, transport of tool's. plus all the uprated parts i have bought before the event maybe if i calculated them in it be around £3,000 an event :P, bearing in mind i have blown 4 turbo's and two engines in the quest for more power theres £12,000 grand there.  Just noticed thay do petrol engines with ignition??? are thay four stroke?  if so i could actually use my experiance in this feild and get rid of that carb and do a custom ecu and throttle body making them engines run uber reliable with more power and less fuel   Thanks again to you all
  5. Well i'll tell you how i got here first, browsing a hobby shop i spot a name on a shelf about 50ft away,  ju-87 So i stroll over and pick the little begger up , its a gulliows balsa kit £8 bargin that keep me occupied for a few hours i thought since my other hobby was off the road, Getting home reading the instruction's it's telling me i need dope, not wanting to visit a youth on a bmx for some illegal substances lol i turned to the internet. yada yada yda couldnt find the stuff. so decided to just bulid the frame, got fusalage done with a almighty effort as i wasnt used to working with a wood that turned to dust when you touched it.  made a cuppa and sat on the blooming thing .......that was the end of that!!!!!  few month's passe's and i got this box with a lovely picture of ledgend sat on a shelf it wasnt going to beat me so  jan i went back to that hobby shop to get another and thay were outta stock , so i bought a p51- mustang  At home now i set to build this one got the fusalage together and a mate knocked the door , trying to hide it as i thought it was bit geeky  he spoted it  and got really intrested so i through down a challange see if yo can build one and he went out at got a British Hurricane Gulliow, but i went stupid with camo paint and panel lines and rivit detailing took me 2 weeks to finish roughly 30 hrs messing with it.. First Flight it Crashed And burnt lol ripped a wing section broke the rudder, so i wasnt impressed still salvaged the plane just need to have repairs.. its blooming gorgeous thow so i want to build another plane. ever since i seen a lancaster fly at a air show at Raf st athan when i was a child beind escorted by a hurricane and a spitfire i was in love then the warbirds made another pass and landed. a hour later we were allowed aboard will never forget it so the idea is i want to build a scale model of a lanc but be able to fly by the time i finish :D (Giving Myself 2 years to build and fund it & learn to fly) I want it to be big ? anyideas??  Bloody hell i Rambled on there getting to the point  basically i gonna have a few quid avalible to me soo as i am swapping my hobby from modified fire breathing cars to model planes, i am selling my subaru impreza  and will have around £1,000 pound for my set-up budget maybe more if i like some thing I know at this time i do not want to go I.c route.   I am buying the parkzone p51-d gunfighter not sure if i should go rtf or buy a seprate transmitter ?  Also going to buy This stuka from Tjd Model's Scale on it looks lovely any one built and flown one i love to hear about it   http://www.tjdmodels.com/e-commerce/tjdmodels/product.jsf?productId=19 But what transmitter should i get for a begginer this part blown my mind billions of choices. Awaiting a e-mail from banna hobby.com on a avalibilty of 3 models thay haveRussian Sukhoi Su-47 Berkuthttp://www.bananahobby.com/1904.htmlBlack Knight F-14 Tomcat V2 Pro http://www.bananahobby.com/1966.html Will by both if In stock withing next 2weeks  or is there a uk supplier ??  Any thoughs theres is a lot of infomation to digest i know  but i have no one to turn to lol thank goodness for magazines one Subcription Sold here!     Edited By Vasili Flame on 19/02/2010 22:39:34
