  1. Hi Chris.. Correct, it is a slow fly... I didn't realise there would be an issue with rpm, so thanks for that.. iirc the motor is 9k- 13k rpm.. that is full chat, but even so... I'll have to give the 4 x 8e a go on the watt meter.. I'm gonna try an angling shop tomorrow, for a set of hanging scales, to measure the static thrust... Thanks for all the replies.. Luv Chrisie xx
  2. Doh... ! You're right Chris.. It's meant to say 8 x 3.8e.. I wish I could blame the phone, but its my fopar.. Luv Chrisie xx
  3. Sorry about the spelling, I'm lacking internet so I'm using my phone...
  4. Cheers guys Yeah, id realised the 450 wud probably explode It just so happens, I bought a 7 x 4 prop yesterday to build the edge 540 shockie that's in the June RC Model World.. I also got a 3s 1300 batt, that might get called upon, as I've just done the C of G and found she needs 28g in the nose, with the 850 batt as far forward as it'll go.. I'll go and weigh it in a bit... Ur probably right about the current setup being ok tho, its no stunt flyer, so full throttle shuddering be a rare occurrence... So, I'm off to glue 7 pennies and a 5p inside the nose... Luv Chrisie xx
  5. Hi guys... First, I've finished my tailwind at last...32" with A.U.W 21.7 oz with 3s 850, or an ounce less with the 450mAh batt.. When I get to a pc, I'll upload pics.... But.. I've just tested my new watt meter and I have more power than expected... Spec - E-flite park 370 BL - 150w 12/15A cont/max 18A ESC 3S 850mAh lipo - 25c / 35c 21A / 29A Using suggested prop (in motor specs) - 8 x 8.3 It's drawing 175W @ 16.5A full chat and 90W @ 8A half stick So batt and esc within specs, but motor overpowered. I presume a 2s batt would lower it, but Cud I down size the prop.. and if so, to what...? I haven't a clue, so you'd save me buying 15 props n guessing.... Any help or advice gratefully received.. Luv Chrisie xx
  6. Hi Guys.. Thought i'd show you my Tailwind build.. I'd already started before finding this Forum, so the Fuse sides were already 90% complete... but atleast I found you, and started taking pics, before I crashed it... I'm trying to do 3 things at once at the mo, this is on a Timeshare with other projects, so don't expect flying pics just yet... I'm spending most of my time on my Heli scale rebuild - Retracts  - http://www.scalerchelis.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=12773 Exhausts  - http://www.scalerchelis.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=12774 Rear Stab - http://www.scalerchelis.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=12775 Digi Cockpit - http://www.scalerchelis.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=12776 A Bit of time fixing the wings on my E-flite Extra 260 480, after I got too close to a magnetic tree And any time left on the Tailwind... So..   I've resized the plans down to 66% 32" as its more manageable, and I have servo's n motors for that size already kickin about.. First issue I had, and I say this with NO reflection on the plans, just my novice-ness, was the top fuse spar. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, but figured it out in the end, even if it was in my own way.. link I miss-read the plan again here, at the tail, not noticing that what I thought was a peice of wood, was infact the tail plane hole... Doh..!! Altho, it worked out ok, cuz i made the triangular infill a snug fit before cutting this 'extra' bit back out link Apart from those two minor screw-ups, the rest has gone fine... Heres the two fuse sides, and tail parts finished, apart from a couple of gussets... link With a lighter, for scale...   link The tail fin, with my artistic lisence on strengthening with a few strips of hard wood in the mix   link  Edited By chrisie webb on 15/04/2011 01:05:16Edited By David Ashby - RCME Administrator on 15/04/2011 06:15:02
  7. Cheers Steve Thanks for replying.. I expect it'll weight a bit more than that.. I did a guillows cub rc conversion, and came in about 120g OVER my estimate... You're right tho, until I have a better idea of the auw, its a guess.... Regarding build pics, I'm already doing that for my heli rebuild.. and I've got tens of those to sort n upload, but I can do a 'here's what I made earlier' build post... Luv Chrisie xx
  8. Hi guys.. Ive scaled down Peters lovely plan 66% to a 32" span... Im going leccy, 2s to keep weight down, and need advice regarding approx wattage and prop size... I've got an 80watt kicking about, but reckon I need closer to 100-125w... What do you think..? And I'm not good at props, so was gonna use the 80w motors specified size of 8x4.3 to 9x5 (for 2s setup) Any advice will be gratefully received... Luv Chrisie xx
