  1. Hi Geoff, sounds like you have the programme set to fly with a Computer generated buddie ie AI (artificial inteligence) Alan, I had that once, and you can disable that easily in the drop down menus. Tony
  2. Hi, Purple Power do various stand offs and seem a good price. Tony
  3. Hi Jo, making your own removable link is the best way to go, remember that a switch would have to deal with 30, 40 amps or higher, and that would need quite a large switch which would increase weight. I have seen the magnetic type on the net which claims to get over this problem but they are expensive. So I would go with Martin and fit a "U" link. Tony
  4. Well I kept on trying, and this morning when I checked for updates, there was an update from V3.0.s to V3.0.t which updated straight away, as soon as Phoenix re-started, it told me the update to V4.0j was available and this time when I clicked on update it downloaded straight away so maybe Phoenix have added an extra update to cover problems downloding V4. Not had a proper play with it yet, will save that for tonight. Tony
  5. You may be right BEB, will try again at a later date. Tony
  6. I get the same message as Steve, tried to download and zip, nada, nothing I am running Vista business on my laptop and V3.s runs fine, but this V4 does not want to download. Tony
  7. Hi Martin, I don't mean to direct you away from this excellent forum, but if you have a look at the Heliguy forum, you will find a whole section devoted to tri and quad copters, with a load of threads on people building and testing from scratch. Tony
  8. The blue parkzone one's are normally EC3's or in that series depending on the size of lipo, yes defo make adjustments or you will have all sorts of problems. Tony
  9. Hi Chris, as to the colour scheme, as a newb, I was thinking along the lines of something very bright, and the wing tips in the port and starboard red and green so as not to get confused with orientation, although looking at the size of the plane, I don't think it will get that small at the distances I will be learning the ropes so yes maybe a traditional scheme may be in order. Tony
  10. Now you have highlighted it David, I will definately be using it.
  11. Cheers for that John, so it's prop with flat side to rear, scalloped side forward, beveled spacer flat to prop then domed prop nut. Cheers all Tony
  12. Ah I see, so prop, plain washer then domed prop nut, got it. I do have the option of pushing the original motor shaft through as a correct size collet was also supplied, but I do like the look when assembled with the domed prop nut. Thanks for making things clear. Tony
  13. Hi all, on reading a post where a member had a prop explode on him, a number of people asked if the spinner was in contact with the prop, and this got me thinking that I have not seen anything on the correct way to fit a prop or the correct order the component parts are assembled. As I am a newb, I thought I had better check before I have an accident. so here we have my component parts, the motor with mounting plate fitted, a threaded prop shaft with it's mounting bolts, a beveled spacer, the prop and spinner. a closer view, the spacer is showing the beveled side, the other side is flat, the prop is showing the scalloped side, the other is flat. the flat side of the spacer and prop. So I presume the spacer goes on the shaft first but flat side to the motor or prop ? then the prop, flat side to motor, scalloped side forward ? then the spinner. Or have I got this all wrong ? all answers greatfully received. Tony
  14. Myron that is below the belt lol, although to be honest, she was looking over my shoulder when I was reading the article in this month's mag and it was her idea, she said that looks a good model, how difficult would that be to build and so, Harlequin is the next in line after my Super 60 build. I think she is trying to get on my good side after finishing the decorating in the lounge, and nearly finished the new bathroom as I did here a mention to my daughter about the dining room could do with decorating now !!! As for electric conversion, all my heli's and my new found delight in building planes are electric so at the moment I will stay that way, although that's not to say that sometime in the future I might not give ic a go. As for my flying skills, sadly they are not on a par with my heli flying skills, so when the weather improved, I am going to treat myself to a course of flying lessons from XEL Model Flying Services down here in Cornwall so eventually I can do justice to Peter's model. 15. Cheers for that Peter, although (hides behind wife) I will convert to electric when I come to build this model plus I think I will take advantage of the forthcoming cnc woodpack as well. Tony
  16. I have used the helping hands for about three years now and find that it is great, although if I am soldering some small wire then I tape the holders to stop the teeth penetrating the outer sheath of the wire. Tony
  17. A question for Peter really, what are your thoughts on the Harlequin as a follow-on model from a high wing trainer ? I really like the look of this model, and although my flying skills are nowhere near ready for a move up, I would like to build the Harlequin anyway. Tony
  18. Hi all, my freebie sealing iron from RCM&E arrived a while back(not used yet) and came with a cotton sock, so do you iron solarfilm with the sock on or off ?
