Thanks for it Darryl. OS stock no is 45281020, and it gives the carb for .40 Surpass on Ripmax website. So if I order this **LINK** it should be just fine I think...

    OS .40FS Tuning

Ok, I need to calm down and think. The part number in Ripmax catalogue is for .26 Surpass, german site says it is for .40FS. I have sent an e-mail to Blackburn, but still think that someone needs to see that. Will post the engine to Lancaster and think afterwards if they can't help.   Cheers Edited By Major on 18/02/2013 18:17:37

Maybe it will be the best option, post it, and wait.... They will do more then me, that's sure. Edited By Major on 18/02/2013 17:28:27

    OS .40FS Tuning

Just now I received also reply from Just Engines. The part they can get for me is the very same item as from US listing. Price will be even few pounds lower, I guess I could have it quicker. This would also save time on posting it to Lancaster and back, and of course the effort of the staff. The question I need to have 100% correct answer is Is the carb from OS.40FS Surpass gonna fit into my .40FS?? I assume it is, looks the same part, and was posted here by mod... The reason I want to be sure is that staff from JE doesn't know what engine exactly I have. If it fitts - I order one and finally fly next weekend Thanks for vid Steve. Will make use of it!!

    OS .40FS Tuning

Steve   Sorry for late post, I was looking at Tony N's models and somehow lost contact with reality.   So how it is. First of all, my airbleed screw no longer "is", as well as my carb. Maybe let's skip the details, but it was entirely my fault. What's strange to me is the screw itself - it was all the way to the end and was broken inside, just before that hole. I don't think that I could do that and even if I removed screw, it wouldn't help at all. I took out not one, but two bits.   Thank You very much Steve for the link to new one from US. Good thing there is four of them, it will give me some time. I contacted Lancaster shop and asked for help. I've been told to send the engine back to them, maybe they will help. If not, then I'll get the part from alternative source.   As some of You may be aware, it is my first four-stroke. I don't know exactly how it behaves, what amount of fuel comes out of the pipe with smoke etc. All I can say - no two stroke spat like this one even when I kept hand very close to the exhaust. And I had very little chance of regulation by needle - engine kept stalling and was very sensitive. After I finished, model looked like someone has literally dipped it in the fuel. Of course, it had good moments, and I even thought it's nearly done, but very few.   Martin thanks for pointing me in that direction. But I have another newbie question - how to fix it?? Or how to check it??     So after all, I assume maiden won't come as quickly as I wanted. Good thing tho - I still have few planes to do, two to fly, so it's not all that bad . Long time ago I fell in love for Tim's Armstrong Whitworth, which now seems to be quite easy to build (at least easier then designing it from zero).   Cheers Tom     Edited By Major on 18/02/2013 16:34:04
  9. Hi Allan! I would test it before the application. I don't have any experience with Flexicote, but Aerocote, mixed with catalyst amount shown on the bottle was still sticky after few days. I ended up with about 100 drops per 25ml - nice and quick application, dry after hour or so

Thanks gents for help. Carb from Surpass looks awfully simillar to that from .40FS, but of course I may be wrong. I've sent e-mail to Just Engines, maybe they will be able to help. If not, will get one not working (or in por condition) engine from eBay and take needed part. From what I saw it is way cheaper then I paid for engine and in some cases cheaper then just the carb itself. Cheers Tom

Jim I'll lok for spares. This may take a while, but in the meantime I'm gonna work a little on Phonix D.III which I started long before Corben. It is about the time for her to appear BBC Yes, it does unfortunately. I waited nealry 5 months to fly her, I guess I can wait a little longer.... One sure thing, whatever happen she'll never be electric. The sound of FS is awesome, nothing like Cox or other two strokes.

Jim thanks for offer, will keep You informed. If You say there is nothing special about it, the screws I have should do just fine. Cheers Tom PS - we can go out and have a pop (Spitfire and Lancaster Bomber are my last favourites) even without sending a bill to anybody.

As I said, I have some spares from other engines, maybe something will match. If not, I will try to buy it somewhere.

I know Steve... Maybe I'm lucky, some of it is still outside, I have some very small cutters so maybe I will take it out, but just maybe. I am angry, cause I invited one person with proper camera to get nice pics of it flying, instead we got loads of pics from between my girl's legs (it might sound strange, but you know what I mean)   Edit:     That's what I had in mind... OS .40FS Tuning

So I came back.... I did nothing to tune my engine. I don't know why, but airbleed screw just broke. I didn't force it by any means, didn't even screw it half turn. While engine was running, I wanted to try and adjust it, and it just disintegrated. So now I have another problem - it will be very difficult to take remains out, but I got some spares, so as soon as I take it out, will try again. Ehhh, will have to move maiden in time I'm afraid. Thanks everybody for help! Tom

    OS .40FS Tuning

I know I can count on You Steve. Thank You very much. I will give it a go as soon as glow sticks and LiPo are recharged and will post info on how I get on. At last the weather is nice, so I have to sort it out today. Once more thank You Steve!! Tom
  21. Hi all. Does anybody have any tips regarding tuning of this engine?? Today I wanted to maiden my Corben Baby Ace, but after nearly two hours I gave up because couldn't get the engine to run properly. The intresting thing to me is that almost everything is fine when the glow plug starter is connected. As soon as I take it off, fun starts. Once I had it running ok, but I lifted nose a little and it died. Strange thing is that no matter what needle setting is, engine is spitting fuel like mad, so I assume there must be something more to screw then I think. Any help will be appreciated. Regards Tom
  22. Personally I would just stick to aliphatic. I'd go mad if I had to build entire model with superphatic - to me it's just too thin.
  23. As same as BEB here... I had one "problem" with them a few weeks back. I ordered some servos, fuel line and female pilot figure. Instead of her, I received pack of washers. I filled form in the customer support, and received her next day, free of any charge, also they let me keep washers for free, even tho I wanted to pay for it. I don't shop online very often, but still it is good to know they won't let you down and are able to take responsibility for own mistakes.... Cheers Tom
  24. I used super glue as well before "discovery" of aliphatic and superphatic. It amazed me, how strong joint you can have using those last two, so no more super glue for me. Aliphatic is ok with syringe alone or with thick needle, superphatic straight out of the bottle. Cheers Tom
