  1. Hi Tom,

Thanks for that, I have been watching the posts with great interest and may go down that route. It does seem a lot quicker and of course easier for low time r/c-ers. And they don't come more low time than me at the moment! It may be a while before the maiden due to the lack of flying experience on my behalf but I am taking in all the progress and developments and have bookmarked your thread and of course Richards too. Amazing what you all come up with and many thanks to all for your input. Didn't realise that all this could be so much fun.

    Regards

    Bob

  2. Hi Malcolm,

Yes, of course it is! Thanks for reminding me and putting me out of the agony of wracking my brains!

I may have some floating about in my shed somewhere which is probably nearly as big as Tom' s nice new one but is chock a block with all sorts of useful junk. May have to build a new one soon.

    Regards

  3. Hi Tom,

I have decided to go down the home-made head route as HK seem to be taking a long time in getting the C30 heads in stock. Have been looking at various options that others have used and have all sorts of materials to hand. One thing that is puzzling me is, what is the hexagonal? brass anchor thing with the 3mm thread that you used in the low tech option in the pdf info you send out? It looks familiar but I cant think what it is!

  4. I always use a 10 to 1 ratio as habit. Full size aircraft in this country used 16 to 1 I think and boats normally 10 to 1. Not always easy to do but on my latest project (a Crane Fly autogyro) I used a 10 to 1 scarf on the 2 mm ply floor and it worked out ok. I built a full size 16ft canoe at this ratio and it seems really strong. Hope this helps

  5. Hi Tom,

Thanks for the kind words and the advice regarding training. I have two clubs within 20 minutes of my home so will be researching them soon and seeing what sort of reception that they give to newbies. I know that one club has a few training aircraft. Also have a friend who is quite experienced.

  6. Hi All,

As a newbie to model flying having only flown a Syma 107G heli into the walls of the living room (and ceiling!), I am absolutely smitten with all this Autogyro stuff. Much more please. Have started Tom's Crane Fly and Rich's Fire Fly. Wife has been visiting her mother over the weekend so guess what I have been doing? Have always been intrigued with giros and should have taken up the challenge of getting in one when I was younger!! Met Ken Wallis once, an amazing chap. Anyway, have been trying to post a photo of the weekend's efforts so this may or not work!! Thanks to all the gyronuts out there that are feeding me all the info especially Tom and Rich.
