  1. A big thankyou to everyone who attended the Cosford weekend, so glad you all enjoyed it. The three V bombers where a sight to behold, Dawn Patrol did us proud with a fantastic display. Also TJD just seem to get better and better, another fantastic display from them all weekend. The 100 years of the RAF went down well. A big thankyou to the Red duo Steve & Matt Bishop, outstanding display even though they had a bird strike in the middle of one display, very well done for keeping cool and landing safely. Deano really got the crowd going with his spirited display which left them begging for more. The airliner slot was also a big hit with the VC10 in its BOAC livery, along with the Air France Fokker, so realistic, the icing on the cake was Keith Mitchell's Constellation, what a stunning model and a great end to the show.

What a fantastic weekend, the weather was spot on, we hope it continues for our next event at Elvington on the 11th & 12th August. Hope to see you there.

Football, Footballangry 2 angry 2 can't even escape it on an airfield at a model show, give me strength!

More room for us on the flight lineyes

I know football is not for everyone, that incudes me. but we have to respect everybody's wishes as a lot of people with be camping and will have the opportunity to watch the show on Sunday the least we can do is provide them the opportunity to enjoy the match in a pub like environment with friends instead of watching it in there caravans. also day trippers will have the opportunity to also watch the match after spending most of the day watching the show.

Win, Win if you ask me.

  3. Flying starts at 09:30, it is a big line up as always with Cosford, this year we are celebrating 100 years of the RAF, you will be given a program at the gate with the slotting, so you will have an idea what is on and what time, but as always it is only a guide, with the best will in the world times can change etc.. due to issues with models or just some flights running over.

This year for the first time ever in modelling history we will have the three V bombers flying together. Best bring your cameras.

We hope you enjoy your day with us.

  4. Another quick update for all of you who are coming to Elvington in 8 day time. It has just been confirmed that a Spitfire & Hurricane from BBMF will gracing the skies above our event on Sunday afternoon time to be confirmed on the day. Due to them having other commitment this will be on a Sunday only, sorry.

This is great new and we are looking forward to seeing her fly, cameras at the ready.

  7. Just over 3 weeks to go to Elvington the LMA's second largest show and one of the best attended event of 2016, let’s see if we can make it better this year. Camping is from Friday till Monday making it a long weekend break, also there is live entertainment on Saturday evening in the Chocks Away bar, everybody is welcome.

We also have a massive trade line once again and plenty of food stalls etc... and of course not forgetting some of the biggest and best large models will be displaying throughout both days. A program will be given on entry to the show which will hopefully give you a chance to plan you day with us.

So what are you waiting for, get them tickets book now, go online at www.largemodelassociation.com/shop See you all there.dp7q4241.jpg

One thing that needs to be thought about is the ticketing process. Making sure people are displaying tickets that they have paid for and aren't using their mates ticket etc

Chris, this as always been a problem, one I may say is on the decline as we are developing new ways to catch them out but there will always be some that slip though. The sad thing is they are depriving charities of much needed funds as the LMA donate a considerable amount of money generated from the shows to versus charities like the air ambulance, museums hospices the list goes on.

We are working on it, and new ways have been introduce this year which have caught a few out.

It's important for us that we sponsor a show with slick and friendly organisation, so thanks too from me Dave. I'll drop Dave Johnson a line but please pass on my thanks to everyone for a great weekend.

I event met this forum's Plummet too smile

Dave it was a pleasure to meet you on the flightline, I like the live feed touch, it seems to be growing in popularity and a great boost to the shows. I hope you and Alex got enough pictures especially Alex sporting his new extra large camera lens.

I would not be put off by many of the comments, as there were 100s of "caravaners"

And many are just that, not model flyers, but campers who enjoy the adventure from another perspective,

And caravaning sites often have electricity, showers and fully set out toilet blocks.

I attended the LMA model flying show both days with club colleagues and this was a memorable show.

Denis, we are not put off, we need to know these thing so we can try and sort them out feedback is always good whether it is good or bad, this is how we have improved the shows over the years, we will never please all but as long as the majority are happy we can't really ask for more. Elvington is another massive event as big as Cosford now, we just hope that goes as well.

I am glad to see that not all campers need all the creature comforts of home when they are away, after all isn't that what camping is all about. So glad you all enjoyed the weekend.

Being quite a distance from N.Essex I didn't go to Cosford myself, but quite a contingent of my club mates did make a day trip and from what I heard at our club meeting last night, their comments regarding the show were only very positive.

Once again that is very helpful, it all adds to what next years show will be.

Always enjoy the LMA shows myself, i enjoy others as well, bit of hype/music don't bother me so much, promote your shows by all means but why knock others.

    John

I agree John, as I have said in an earlier post. There is room for all the shows, it is up to the public to chose which one suits them.

  13. We can't thank you all enough for your feedback, this is what all shows need as it helps improve thing for next time. No show will ever get it 100% right but judging by your feedback we are certainly doing something right, so long may it continue. Hope to see you all at Elvington, its only 4 weeks away.

Commentary was good far better than recent non LMA shows.

Should there be a lunch break for 45 mins? Would that allow everyone a chance to shop, eat, take a breath etc?
Or would that detract from the flying and break the day causing people to go home early?

We have had lunch breaks in the passed and had complaints, you can never win, what works for some doesn't for others. Plus Cosford has so many pilots who want to fly we couldn't possibly fit them all in with the time we have. This year we rolled out a program to give people an idea when most planes where flying so as to give an opportunity to visit the traders we are hoping to continue this at Elvington.

Must say my family and I (two of these were none modelers) did enjoy the show yesterday. There was a small issue on the pre ordered tickets which I must say was dealt with quickly and efficiently.

The show did look very well organised and the competent way in which all of the pilots I saw fly should be complimented in the safe manner of the whole display.

The biggest compliment was told by my daughter who said in the car on our way home ' I really enjoyed that even though I though I would not have '.

Well done LMA and all involved.

Now that was worth the show on its own, so glad you all had a great day.

    thumbs up

Have to say, it was a really good couple of days, great flying and some beautiful planes. Campground booking was excellent Dave.

My only gripe was the elsan point. By Sunday lunchtime it was gross.

Glad you enjoyed it, elsan point now on the list, thanks.

  17. Hi all, thanks for the feedback it is always helpful. Looks like a few issues to ads to the wash-up meeting on this event so I will pass them on.

I understand why some shows get criticism, some of our show has certainly had them in the past, the old saying is you are only as good as your last event, everyone is different.

There is a place for all the shows, it is up to you as the paying public which type is best for you.

It is Elvington for us next, hope to see you there.
