  1. I actually made it to the field today, and apparently won a book on the Mosquito in the raffle
  2. It was one of those days Steve, before I left things were going wrong, nearly hit the vans wing mirror, bounced off the kerb, dropped this, and that. it took me about 4 attempts to get off the deck, 1 coz there was hardly any wind, and 2 because the super 60 is such an itch to keep in a straight line, even in a huge field, so I got 1 flight, had a mooch about, did a few circuits and I was thinking of coming down the engine dead sticker, bit of a bouncy one but we got down in one piece. After that I tried another 4 or 5 times and she kept turning on me and 1 time i broke the wing support as it dug in, so I gave up and went home, and on the way the tail caught my foot and I broke that too, so only a partial successful day im going to take the acro down fri and see if I can break that too
  3. Did no one want to but it recently Jeff when it was up for sale ? I'd have bitten their arms off at the elbows to have it if id have known, i love Mossie's off flying at Slough this morning for an hour or so as the van now fits under the height restriction
  4. Chucked it down all day i did buy a spinner for the acrowot, 2.5in alum and the nut is too large to fit on the thread of the engine, an OS55, do you ever get the feeling it was one of those days
  5. Guys, if my van is back from the menders by tues I think I have the time to come flying
  6. Hi Steve, wow, it sounds like you've been thru it but so worth it if you can bend your knee properly again, fingers crossed all goes well and you get the other one done ttoo dave
  7. Hi guys, I must apologise for my lack of attendance at the field for quite some time. Mick may have mentioned that I have been able to secure 2 part time jobs, the first at Sainsburys has taken quite a bit of my time as they have had me working full time hours while they have been training me, and now that is coming to an end, my part time hours will include me working Sundays 2pm - 9pm, so that rules those days out, and the same hours on a thu. Sadly,Gill has also been unwell since feb and that will continue for the rest of the year, so time for hobbies has and will be ruled out. if you also add in it takes me 1.25 hours to load the van and drive down to the club ad then to unload all my stuff and actually get flying, then the same to get home, it doesn't leave much time for flying. To get better at flying, I really need 1 to 2 days stick time per week, but given th cost of fuel and time to get there and back, and then when I get there there is a cross wind or the wind is blowing too strong and I can't then take off or land, and all I'm left with is flying in 400m x 200 yard box we are allowed to fly in due to our neighbour, and there's not a lot left for me do or to enjoy. so what for the future, I don't know, I can't get into slough because they have height restrictions to get to the field that I don't meet, Harlington fly mainly helis which only leaves Kempton as a viable option for me to be able to get to and get some decent flying time, plus the weather has been not very nice this year, if you add all these factors together, my enthusiasm has dived, excuse the pun. I shan't mention the man at Aldershot who tells me off every time I'm at the field, I didn't realise there was soo much to do wrong, even my trainers are the wrong colour, anyway, enough rambling for now, these are the reasons you haven't seen me for a while, who knows what will happen in the future Dave
  8. Hi Jeff, I'm looking for a nice quiet week day to get down to the field so I can get my confidence back as I've only flown 10 mins since jan 4th and I think EVERYONE will get down the field over this weekend and that doesn't appeal to me, although it would be good to catch up with all the guys. so I'm not asking for a lot, a sunny, non windy week day, how hard can that be ? Thanks for letting us know your a trainer, it would be good to get up with you at some point, can you only make weekends ?
  9. Steve as I've now built and flown the Acro, do u want me to have a look at yer planes ??
  10. How was today Jeff, the weather looked quite good in the end
  11. Steve, why don't you ask Mick to have a look at your planes, he may be able to help, he is an engineer after all
  12. Thanks Myron, I've got Real Flihjt 6, I'll give it a go
  13. Wow, when you put it like that.........
  14. I thought in the march issue it said there was going to be an article on how to "knife edge", but I couldn't find it anywhere
  15. Well, I caught the sun today, how mad is that !! There was about 12 to 15 at the field today, lots flying, I got Steve S to maiden the acrowot and it flew fantastically, he was very impressed
  16. Hi Jeff, Mick and I are going to go tomorrow, give the Acro it's maiden hopefully, the morning is meant to be better weather wise. Glad you had a good time today, I must say it was very nice conditions this afternoon, not much wind.
