  1. Hi dont know if you have got any further with the build, i have almost finished the 1550mm version ,all the bits were there but did come across a few problems  dont know if the 700mm one has them as well ,on mine the forward cabane struts were 13mm too long ,which threw out the top wing incidence by about 8 degrees I added a ply strenghtener to the rudder base and support struts to the tail as there was a lot of flex in it and i built a battery box in behind the dummy engine which helps with the C of G which was wrongly given as measured on the top wing not the middle wing . Im almost there with the build a few final tweaks and I hope to maiden in the next few weeks.

    Cheers

  2. Need some advice just finishing the hk sopwith camel build and am a bit concerned about the Cof G ,the manual states 120mm from the center leading edge of the top wing ,however the hangar 9 one i had it was only 102mm from the center leading edge of the top wing. The h9 model has all the same dimensions and construction so not sure why the big difference .at 120mm with the battery installed it balances just about spot on but at 102mm its massively tail heavy . Anyone built one of these before? Dont want the maiden to be a tail heavy bin bag full of bits.

    Thanks

  3. Thanks for all the advice gents, have just begun the build got as far as the fuselage crutch ! Am planning on electric power with an ess air sound system ( like the bendini but a fraction of the price) it's my first proper kit build since a db tiger moth in 1991,so I'm taking my time aim to maiden in the summer if it stops raining here in Cornwall!

  4. Hi , looking for some advice on covering a vintage SE5A, its the old Dave Platt kit ,I have built several ww1bipes in the past mostly topflite kits and have always used solatex iron on covering. The build manual for this kit recommends only using silk and dope as anything else will cause warping of the airframe . Has anyone had experience of this? Was thinking of using a similar iron on fabric s solatex is no more ,or should I just stick to silk and dope? Any advice gratefully received

  6. hi , I had the same problem with the wings as well ! thought it was because i had glassed them , just need to give the face rib a gentle sanding and make sure your servo cables are routed out via the round holes and a gentle tap seats them in fine, dig it out of the loft and give it a go , cheers

  7. Hi , looking for some advice , I have almost finished refurbishing a damaged H9P47 Razorback , there was some damage to the fuse tail and i had to rebuild it and have added a tail retract (electric HK special) when I balance it with the Cof G at 100mm from the leading edge at the wing root , i need 630 grams of lead to get it to balance , there is an OS 120 fs in the nose already it seems an awful lot of weight , i know the real a/c has a massive radial up front anyone had to add similar amounts to their's ?

    thanks

  8. Hi , i am dusting off my one of these I built years ago, am changing the engine for a new 91 fs the old 60 2st having seized years ago, have lost the plans and cant for the life of me remember where the c of g was i seem to remember it was about level with the rear cabane strut on the top wing , anyone have a copy of the plan they could check for me ?

    Thanks
