I think some courses would be a great idea as thereis probably loads of people who want to get into laser cutting but just not sure how to go about, i had some one message me on Facebook asking loads of questions after seen my video. Put it this way if you do a course i will def be attending.

  3. Hi all.

Well three weeks have past since i started my journey into the laser cutting world and with a lot of patient guidance and help from Barrie Lever ( who i must have driven mad with email after email🤣🤣 as i knew nothing about laser cutting.Barrie convinced me to get the k40 and download inkscape and k40 whisperer and that was when the trouble started, this was loke another language to me but Barrie's patients got me through it all and helped me understand what i was doing. Reading all the above posts this is my take on it all. Buy a K40 laser cutter and leave the cheaper ones alone, spend a little more and get something that is up to the job. Please link to youtube of what i have achieved in three weeks and i am over the moon with my K40, Barrie do you need any lesson on laser cutting i can help 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Thanks to these posts and help from friends i am sorted.https://youtu.be/TwnoygVNNqQ

  4. Hi bit of a long shot , i am looking at buying a laser cutter but have very little knowledge in this field. I need it to be able to cut upto 5mm thick balsa wood and 4mm ply wood, i have been looking at the 40w co2 Chinese ones one ebay ( £300) but dont want to buy one that is going to end up been a expensive door stopper. Is there anyone out there that can offer any advice. Cheers

  5. Hi Guys,i have got this kit it is a Berkeleys mini zilch and from what i can gather this kit was made in the 1950's and is a die cut kit rather than the lazer kit version that is available at the moment. My question is,does this kit have any value as a collectable would hate to start building it only to find out it is worth some thing.

    Regards

    Thanks Rob

Well here are some more pictures so far.

The start of the wood staining and the wings,i have hidden the servo leads in the front of the wing as i am covering the wing in a vintage solortex and i done want the leads to be visible through the covering.

  7. Hi Lindsay, just been down to B & Q to pick up my wood stain,i have gone for the same as yours or very close,so painting is on the job card for tonight

I do a lot of scratch building and i must say i am really enjoying this one.Maybe one day you could do a eastbourne mono plane in the same easy build format with a 50 inch span that would be great.

Any tips on a motor for this baby would be great.

    Regards

    Wayne

I started out by making photo copies of all the parts and made cardboard templates which I have stored away for when I want to build another one.100_3708.jpg

I have used 4mm balsa instead of 6mm and it has worked out very well,I must say I have been building for about 20 years now and this must be one of the first scratch builds I have really enjoyed (very easy build). Here are some pictures of the build so far and will post more as I go along.100_3707.jpg
