  1. good idea, you will need to remove the ply battery holder plate to get the battery right back as far as possible, it kinda goes in at an upward angle if you know what i mean. the C of G is perfect. not that i know too much about it but it flies so true and dialed-in. I use 2.200maH 25C Turnigy Batteries, the one i used came out the plane after 4 mins of various throttle 'Cold' i'm using a E-Flyte 35A ESC and a 4,500 outrunner brushless Motor Edited By ADRIAN EADES on 30/08/2013 22:54:17
  2. cool.........well the T-45 has a Home-Made Splint on it's nose made out of pencils & 2 x 'Bungie' cords (propper proffesional me!!!) (how do you put photo's on here)? so its been straightend and glued, so i should be able to give it another blast tomorrow weather permitting
  3. Hi, i have this model of the T-45 Goshawk **Here** does anyone know if it is compatible (part wise) with the Hobbyking one? i have looked on youtube and there are vids of what people say are Hobbyking T-45 jets....but look identicle to the Lanyu Goshawk 750 version?.....I would like to know as i want to get some spares so i can keep this bird airborne for as long as possible, the jet is amazing and fast and robust...but accidents happen... The site i have linked to says 'SORRY OUT OF STOCK' and thats parts too.....i have emailed them without any sucess....any body help at all? Kind regards Ade
  4. Hi tony, how do i erm......ADJUST my barry manilow nose lol?....its been sat nose-in in a bucket of hot water for 10 mins.....? its capeable of 5 or-so mins flight time but i rarely go over 4 mins thanks for the replies
  5. Thank you for the replies, yes the field is away from others so no harm can be done if the worst happens i'm a member of the BMFA so insurance is covered, i'm very responsible (i like to think so) I would just LOVE to join a club and assist others and learn for myself, BUT i do shift work, i am on call, i have children to visit etc....when i do actually get 5 mins to myself its usually raining lol....so even if i did join a club, i would rarely be able to get to site on a given day .....i have to grab some airtime as and when i can....hence the apparent lack of morrals to my 'Hap-hazard' maiden flight. i have to GO when i can, its such a shame.
  6. I Think (not a member yet of any club as new to this hobby) that the rules are there for a very good reason, especially for a medium to large club with lots going-on and que's to 'Have a go' I respect others and 'Care' about their 'well-being' weather i know them or not. as for the post about the chap in cyprus with motor running whilst walking about in the pits...??!! flippin ek'!!! This is a dangerous hobby, make no mistake, and if the rules 'Cut Down' the likley hood of (god forbid) ever having an accident, Then it gets my vote.... Last night i was on my own in a field maidening myself using a T-45 EDF plane, these were my 'Field Calls' OH criky i must be mad...here goes!!! Yesssssssssssssssssssssss OMG!!! jeezzzzz WOW i need a beer now..... Fly Safe Team.... Kind regards Ade.
  7. Hi How is your set-up going? i maidened it and myself last night lol.....Brilliant, no puffy strained batteries, ESC fine, just bent the nose, nothing i can't fix. this jet is superb, cruises on half throttle, and really picks it's skirt up and shifts when required to do so. I hope you get yours sorted. The 2.2maH 25C 3c batteries are just sublime....i had to push the batt as far back as it would possibly go, that meant removing the thin 'Ply' battery tray....no Biggie though....TBH if the Ply batt tray was in there the damage would most deffinately been worse so quite happy there. Regards Ade.
  8. Posted by Bob Archbold on 30/08/2013 06:13:44: Hi Adrian!   Verrrreeeeee funny, perhaps you have missed your true vocation in life up, until now that is..... perhaps you should re-write Fifty Shades of Grey to make it more exciting for the male fraternity... You do realise that you will be getting a tutorial from people in ivory towers on the sanity of your actions..... and, no doubt, one from the Health & Safety Executive as well....LOL!!! With my heart condition I think it might be best if I give EDF's a wide berth.... Thanks for getting my day off to a bright start!!! Regards Bob p.s.where is it you live so I can give it a wide berth....Ha! Superb Bob Lol, and thank you i'm very mechaniciy minded and like a challenge.....this is the craziest thing i have ever done (without the 'Aid' of alcohol lol) to be honest.....i'm still on a 'High' now 12 hours after the event! buzzin' lol, and yes, people will read the post and say "what? he is mad....what if..bla bla...on his own, never had a real flight bla etc..." Yes you are right for thinking this as well......I DID!....Yes it 'went-in' and the front of the jet looks more like Barry Manilow now lol (Google it kids) but it was totally worth it and i would do it again in an instant...in fact...as the glue has dried, i will be giving it another Go either this evening or deffo tomorrow. I will get some video footage (on my mobile phone) it won't be me filming, it will be my daughter....im not THAT good!!! lol This Hobby is BRILLIANT!!!! (Fast-Show stylie) Kind Regards Ade   Edited By ADRIAN EADES on 30/08/2013 07:25:47 Edited By ADRIAN EADES on 30/08/2013 07:26:47
  9. STOP PRESS ~ STOP PRESS ~ STOP PRESS   IT FLIES!!! more importantly....so can i!!!!! Lanyu T-45 64mm EDF (electric ducted fan) Hawk Jet      this is it   I put one of my 2.2maH batts in it and pushed it right back as far as it would go, as previous attempt to launch was horrid...nose dived straight away i'd say 2" further back (darn it, should have measured it) that was yesterday.....today i powered-up the jet, checked all the controls, did range check......and when i had plucked-up the courage pointed it into the rather strong wind..... FLING.........THROTTLE..........BOTH NERVOUS THUMBS BACK ON BOTH STICKS.........GLIDE.........BIG GUST.........MORE THROTTLE........A BIG RUSH FROM THE POWER UNIT........SOAR.........BIT OF ELEVATOR........BIT OF LEFT HAND AILERON TO BRING IT AROUND,......W.O.W I'TS FLYING......More importantly.....I'M FLYING!!!!! im a complete novice.....I'm shaking typing this lol.........WOW WHAT A RUSH!!! I kept her / it up about 3 / 4 mins (felt like forever!!) i flew it around in large circuits not realising actually how wide the circuits were!!! until i got in and the fiancee said 'Wow you were flying right over the house" i was far-off in the field and it looked like the jet was within the boundaries of the field.....i'm still shaking lol..... After about 8 (i guess) large circuits of half throttle circuits i headed her into the wind at the far end of the field and flew toward me throttling back steadly all the while.....she came in beautifully (why was no one filming grrr lol) and just as i was going to cut the throttle i did the stupidist thing in the world.....THOUGHT JUST ONE MORE GO!!! and went all-out full throttle..........wooshhhhh.........she went verticle and climbed with relative ease......i know nothing about EDF's or flying persay....but i gotta say....i was relaxing by now and really starting to enjoy myself......i was still nervous......but kinda focused......i did another low level fly-pass and thought this plane/jet looks just superb as it was going at a fair rate of knotts, again i pulled up, vertically, up, up she went, i killed the power......she twisted in the strong wind and pointed downward.....power on......zoommmmmmm straight down then i leveled-off with plenty of height still (it was my first time actually flying a EDF (my only other plane is a micro EPO parkzone sukhoi 26m)) Quite a difference i'd say lol anywho i turned her steadily to come back towards me and dumb thumbed it.....she went-in from about 12 ft, no throttle so damage is light and repairable. WOW!!! ive just about calmed down now LOL WHAT A BLAST!!! I'm one very Happy Chappie Ade......over and out!!! 10. Thanks Pete, STOP PRESS ~ STOP PRESS ~ STOP PRESS IT FLIES!!! 11. I have a parkzone sukhoi 26m the original old type, its seen some action i can tell you lol.......all outside in most conditions not wet weather though.....it dances with the swallows very well, i have many hours of fun with it, It's totally stock, i use 1900maH batts and these drive it along very well, I have read somewhere that you can change the stock Motor for a Blade (micro heli) MsrX or Msr Motor. these have a bit more poke apparently, As i have one lying around i may just have a go and transplant it into the sukhoi....i got nothing to loose as the plane is on borrowed time already lol. better check they have the same amount of teeth on the cog Regards Ade. Watch this space.....
  12. any updates for this thread? the link is an old one and does not work.... Ade ps....i am in the same boat, mine is tatty now and could do with a new airframe, something different.
  13. Thanks people, the one i got tony was 'just' the T-45....not from that seller..... NO electrics were fitted at all, i got the t-45 jet because i had 35A E-Flyte ESC 4 x 2.200maH 3c 25c turnigy NEW batteries 4 x 9g E-Flyte Servos Spektrum receiver 4500kv motor to install into the duct. All these parts were surplus in my flyte box from my heli exploits. i was told that it would fly on the 2.2' batts but it looks doubtful.......... sounds like i need to get some different batteries to make any head way. That will teach me, The battery in the link wingman is 180gm my 2.2's are 195gm....not a lot of difference....whilst the 1500maH 3c 20-40c batt's weigh only 128gm thats a big reduction in weight. would something like this do? thats 128gm thats a huge difference. What are your thoughts? Thank you so much everyone for helping.....ade or even....this I'm trying to take all this in lol.................... PS How do you put a link on here so it looks like *this* or *link* etc....instead of my link mess. PPS motor/fan is balanced perfectly     Edited By Pete B - Moderator on 29/08/2013 18:39:14
  14. yes wingman that's the one i have, so is that a 1500maH 2 cell? i'm new to this sorry, and is that 25c or greater? don't suppose you have a link to a good battery? Andrew likewise can you point me to exactly what you mean? i've looked at batteries and to be honest.....it's a bloomin MINEFIELD for a newbie like me..... Thanks you guys for the replies II WILL get airborn soon!
  15. Hi People i have a T-45 Lanu Epo 64mm EDF and its supposed to run on what they recomend '1800mah 20c-30c 11.1v batteries, i have 4x 2200mah (new) 25c (11,1v) and the jet just dives down on hand launch (trying to maiden it) i give it full throttle and give it a big fling and give it some up elevator but it just dives down i'm thinking my C of G is way out or the battery is just too heavy. Others say you can run the 2.2 quite happily, some say no no no....What to do? and what is the best kinda 1800 battery to get? Kind Regards ade
  16. same here, i will have another look tomorrow and see,
  17. Well, made good progress today, installed my new motor, i had to file down 4 plastic guides in the motor housing so the motor would sit right into the duct propperly, it took a bit lateral thinking and a steady hand with my dremmil with sanding-cone attachment. So motor installed, the two control wires for the elevators needed a darn good oil to 'free them up' as were quite rough inside the tubes/guides. Installed the elevator servo and tested, installed the ailerons servo and tested, Tested the motor was running ok........and boy! its got some thrust for a 64mm set-up (not that ive had any previous experience with this kinda model as i'm a newbie.....but you get my drift). i was very impressed. So i just got to sort-out where to site the ESC as its a bit of a squeeze in the cockpit area. oh and not forgetting the RX location as well?....... Any ideas / photo's chaps & chapesses? help is grately received......can't wait to have a go! Kind Regards Ade
  18. got mine mostly assembled today, where have you put your ESC? looking foward to maiden flight. that new motor i got has some punch lol.....gave it a blast and it nearly blew the missus hair off lol Reg Ade.
  19. Thats Amazing!, i will be watching this with gusto......thats got to be the lightest airframe ever (for scale) well done, whatever next
  20. I have read lot's about in / out-runner motors.......am i right in saying that inrunner motors DON'T have as much Torque as their out equivalent? Which leads me onto my next question.....is a 'Outrunner' Motor better for EDF's? or does it not really matter? I'm learning
  21. lol cheers..........equitable lol...............
  22. That motor looks the bizz....how much is that in GBP? There is good reason funds are short just now.....i'm getting married in three weeks, so after that i will try to sweet talk the soon to be 'better half' into getting a decent EDF and i should be sorted KR Ade Edited By ADRIAN EADES on 14/08/2013 22:27:40 Edited By ADRIAN EADES on 14/08/2013 22:27:55
