Hello one and all. I work in a college and have persuaded (it wasn't hard) the lecturers in the Carpentry & Joinery Dept' to let the students build the TN 70" Spit as a project over the duration of the course. This will not be a flying model, but more a test of the skills they have learnt with a very different outcome to normal (although they do build a fine full size rowing boat!). The end result will probably be more bare skeleton than skinned as this shows as much of the work as possible. What I would like to do is post a build thread as the project progress'. But as the Dept's plane building and my own scratch build experience is low (3yr old half built pogostick as proof) I need as many build photos as possible to help them along. So if anyone is having a bash at this fine plane and hasn't already posted some pics they have taken I would greatly appreciate a look at them. Sean

Bill As I understand it, it is to counter act the torque from the prop and allows the plane to track straight.

Sorry, I hadn't tested it when I posted the link, but your right it seems way off!

Thanks David. I didnt fancy launching a flying crab. If yours flew fine i'll give it a go. By the way, your review of the plane in RCM&E makes a handy addition to the instruction manual whilst building.

The link from google doesn't work, it looks like the Hobson site is no longer available. But I did find a useful spreadsheet (thanks to PaulF on rcuniverse) that will do the same thing . http://www.flindt.us/planes/prop_performance.xls Sean

Hello all. I'm currently putting together an Seagull Decathlon EP. After fitting the motor to the mount and attaching it to the firewall, I noticed that there didn't seem to be any right/down thrust on the motor. In fact with the prop on it looks like it actually has about 1 degree of up thrust. Should I had the right/down thrust with washers on the motor mount or does anyone have a solution to this already? I'd appreciate some help with this please. Sean
