  1. I have 2 dynam models fitted with LED nav light, a WACO biplane and a Hurricane. A slight mob was required on the Hurricane, 2 red LED's on port wing, 1 on wingtip, 1 on leading edge, fine! Starboard, green on wingtip, red on leading edge...oops! simple replacement with a green from old Xmas lights. Both models have wires from each LED, black and red, so 4 sets of wires. Now my question, how do I connect them/what do I connect them to? My electrical knowledge tells me to simply graft them to any power supplied black/brown and red wires? Dynam don't even mention their existence in either set of instructions. I'm not sure if I can graft to just any servo wires as surely they are unpowered until I send a signal from the tx, that leaves the battery or esc wires which are considerably heavier gauge. Clue me in please !
  2. Thanks for the replies. The set-up was 50amp esc, 11.1v 3s 3350 lipo, 11 x 5.5 prop and the motor, you are correct it was 1020kv. I will change the prop to 12 x 6. and go with an Emax motor. Thanks again.
  3. I struck up my E-Pioneer trainer for a test run after build. 50 amp esc, 3s battery, E-flyte 480 1250kv motor as sold by my local model shop, "ideal for that set up" they said. After 20 seconds at almost full power I smelt it and shut down immediately, and actually burnt my finger on the motor. It no longer functions! So 3s batt and 50 amp esc are undamaged, recommend a motor please ?
  4. Not convinced (is that a slight play on words?), I have visions of Da Vinci at the controls, he had to be an alien, like Einstien and Hawkins....and Paul!
  5. So as Sod's law dictates.....they have started to work, I have done nothing different ! One spit has had my touch, new pilot (Tigger!) and a camo paint job, hand and airbrush. I will now 'spruce up' the other one. My plan is to replace the retracts, yes they are working.... but not reliably, so I will follow good advise. I have a post on newbies as I have returned after a 20+ years absence from modelling. I am still more interested in building than flying, if I scratch build all problems are of my own doing, with an ARTF they are someone else's problem plus I have to find them ! My first ever post and very pleased, thanks everyone, it' s great to be back. P.s. I have other planes, (Supercub etc.) so the spits will not be my first flights, they are for later and were both presents after a rather serious accident that I survived! Da Vinci said, ' when you have once tasted flight you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward' ...how did he know that? He never flew....did he?
  6. Thanks, I am finally staring to understand the electrics !! But only just!
  7. I have 2 (don't ask why) Dynam ART Spitfire's. Both have the same problem. I could not get the supplied Dynam TX and RC to bind on either model so I used my Spektrum DX6i with AR600 rx's. All working fine except...gear. Gear came down on both models, went back up, then only right hand side, (port) came down again. I have tried every combination of servo lead to rx that I can think of, no luck. Obvious pattern somewhere as both planes are the same. I am still in fairly early days of flying and these planes are destined for a later date...but I would like them to work. Can you help?
  8. In 1986 I left the U.K., I have trailed around the world ever since. I had a nice little workshop with my 'free flights' and early 2 channel ( complete with mIlls .75 !!). After 26 years I am back to the U.K. and my planes, but how it has changed! I always preferred building to flying, strange as that may be to some, now it's ARTF so I don't have so much to do. Having said that I am building a 'Slingsby Swallow' glider, full on balsa and 2 channel. I will start flying as soon as our weather will let me. I'm probably more obsessed with my planes that I was when my children were small, wonder if my grandchildren will like them?
