  1. Hi Chris, if there’s an instruction book, I never got one! I think the notes on the plans are really easy to follow. My brother also built one a few years back and I know he didn’t have anything other than the plans and notes on the plan. 😎
  2. Chris, Mine were long ones too... cut them to fit. It’s not quite half and half... but neither is the depth of lower and upper wing. So each metal strip makes one long and one short.
  3. Chris, Hope they make sense. I realise looking back that I originally planned on sliding the metal tabs into the sandwich after covering... but then realised that I couldn't guarantee the strength of the epoxy joint if i couldn't see it beneath the covering. So I chose to epoxy the metal tabs in as I built the sandwich. Would have been even better had I thought about it before gluing the ribs in because than I could have also drilled holes through the entire sandwich on the bench and reinforced with cocktail stick dowels.... but I doubt they will pull out!!
  4. Hi Chris. Sorry I missed a few posts... very busy at work. The trailing edge pieces are actually triangular stock... that coincidentally are exactly the right size, from local model shop... think they might be used as gutters for wooden dolls houses. The metal wing strut joiners are made exactly as you described... I made a pocket between a sandwich of thin ply plates for them to slide into after covering... will send couple of photos. nige
  5. Chris, I made a template Curved edge from wood... wrapped fine grade sand paper to it... made it really easy and consistent curve.
  6. It had been in the attic since I sneaked it home from the Nats at Barkston about 6 years ago! 😎
  7. Wow, you’re not hanging about! I had the same pleasant surprise with the wood for my Topflite GS P47... opened the box and it was as though it was packed yesterday!

  9. It should come up in your ‘album’ if you’ve created one Chris.
  10. Hi Chris, Yes Im still here and yes i got your PM but didn't find it straight away. My ineptitude. Sorry. Will get straight back to you. Nigel
  11. Hi guys. So pleased my thread is still running. My Model is still not quite complete. Pressures of work, moving home and multiple other projects (all the usual excuses) have got in the way. Just fished the scale saw tooth leading edge sheeting. min some ways ... if you don’t have the plastic engine cheek mouldings you are free to make whichever ‘Louvre pattern’ you wish. Looking at my ‘wing nut wings’ plastic model instructions, the louvred vary greatly depending on which engine was used.
  12. Thanks Guys..... there is clearly a wealth of information and techniques available. Thank you for sharing.... I will certainly explore the whole lozenge camouflage pattern as a pair on decal after seeing the cost of commercially available lozenge fabric. 🤣 mans with a small test piece first I can just experiment.... here goes! Thanks again to all the tips...
  13. Worth buying a laser printer just to achieve that result!
