  1. Been looking at transmitter cases of late as one of mine has seen better days, one of the Logic cases which is a bit battered and bruised.

How do you all carry/store your transmitters to and from the field, what cases in your opinion offer the best protection and value for money considering how much we all spend on Transmitters and many of us I guess own more than one ?

How do you cut the foam inserts to fit round the transmitter ?

    Thoughts ?

    Cheers,

    Paul

Thanks, that's the exact one I have been looking at.

To keep the Dx7s alive I was looking for some options regarding receivers, thus the original question, however the Ar620 would appear to have some issues with carbon fibre frames on Helis and may be a little big for my Trex 450 so looking at something with SATs and perhaps less bulky.

Have a look at the AT6610T. No remote, but it does have two wiskers.

  3. Went with the XJT module and X8r receivers to keep my 9X alive for now for my planes.

And here was me thinking I was only asking a perfectly reasonable question on Radios & Receivers 😳......Great reading though 😁

Are you any the wiser Paul?

    😁

I think so, wealth of info out there, just a matter at the end of the day of deciding what best suits your needs. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, happy for what its worth that the post created a conversation 🤐

At the end of the day everybody's input on the forums is required to keep the hobby alive and dare i say it topical.

Thanks all, you can be sure I will have more questions to test all your knowledge 👍 l

Any currently available receiver will be fine. The AR410 and AR620 seem to be well liked and reasonably priced.

Thanks for the info, perhaps I should have mentioned these are for two elderly helis, one Raptor 50, the other a Trex 450, having read through a few forums there would appear to be some issues with the AR620, Carbon fiber frames and signal quality.

The lack of external ariel (sat) appears to have a bearing ?

    Cheers,

    Paul

  7. Folks,

Obviously a talking point and interesting discussions in these strange times, perhaps over a beer after the world rights itself beer, thanks for all your replies.

Another question your collective knowledge may be able to help me with, now that I have decided for now to go down the XJT route, which keeps the old 9X alive for a while longer, however in keeping with my DX7s can you advise what Spektrum receivers would still be suitable ?

    Cheers,

    Paul

  8. With my ever growing array of batts & deliberation over buying a charger that will do more than one batt at a time, I just thought I'd throw it out there to all you experienced flyers as I am bewildered by the choice available these days:

    • How many do you charge at once ?
    • What charger or combination of charger and PSU ?

    Cheers,

    Paul

  9. Thanks for all the replies folks, took all the batt packs out when i took the hiatus, have a Graupner Ultramat 16 charger so good to go there I think.

There seems to be a myriad of 2.4 GHz modules available are they TX/RX specific ?

  10. Folks,

Back in the game after a few years away, just wondering if it's worth upgrading my TX ? I have an old PCM 9x with synth module and a DX7s, RX's mostly spektrum and happy to keep it down that route unless otherwise convinced ?

    Thanks,

    Paul

  11. I have an OS 46AX 11 engine in my Irvine tutor, before i run the engine, what type of fuel would you recommend ? Would i be safe enough running the same fuel (Cool power 10%) on the Tutor as i do in my heli's ? Cool power appears to be a lot harder to get these days, may be more prudent going for a fuel more easily found ?

  12. The engine mount supplied with the kit doesn't let the OS Engines needle valve adjuster clear the cowling unless i have the engine at the very end of the mount, to me this doesnt seem right & i guess the COG will be affected also ? Anyone else come across this & would i be safe to use shims to raise the engine enough to move the engine back or is there a different mount available ? The last thing i want to do is cut away the cowling in order to get correct fit. Cheers,

    Paul

  13. Long story cut short, finally found someone that could supply the above, any way that was a couple of months ago, when i finally got round to building last week both wings have been damaged, probably during delivery. Before you say it yes my fault i should have checked on receipt of the kit, problem is does anyone know of a shop with spare wings ?
