Hi Sonny,
I started trying to start my dads Mills 1.3 diesel back in the early 1960's when I was about 8 years old, once you have smelt the Ether rthere is no looking back, still have a PAW .5cc in the Mini Tyro & a replica Mills 1.3 in the enlarged Keilcraft Eaglet.
Never did get my dads engine going but I tried for years, the fuel was probably past it's best

The generation of noise over the years 1950's to the 1990's has been a unifying force making us join clubs to fly in relatively remote locations, with the advent of practical electric flight in the mid 90's . I having been a regular club sunday morning flyer for 30 years, I now find myself a lone hand flyer with BMFA membership for the last 10 years, I still keep my hand/eye in with 30 minutes flying a week, not good for the clubs is the down side

Hi Geoff
If you have a look at the Model Boats forum at the Thames Sailing Barge stuff thread, there are plenty of Veronica photos etc, my wing keel there is 6 lbs of lead is on the opening photo . They are great fun to race 😀
Regards Ray
I think she sails better with the wing keel rather than the deep fin & much easier to launch

Hi Geoff
Did you progress with your Thames Sailing Barge Veronica? Nothing to do with Wings, but I'm being drawn back to the aeroplanes after 6 years of boat building 😊

Hi All
The advent of electric flying has'nt done the clubs any favours, as we used to have to band together in groups to make a noise! But as a model flyer for the last 50 years back in the day RC was a form of magic to us in the 1970's, but now the Xbox kids get the same control over a moving object in a safer way, couple that with the lack of practical skills, that's progress for us ? I still fly every week to keep my hand in.

Hi Tony
We must have been watching the same programmes, I thought it fascinating that the engine intakes were the key to the Super Cruise above the speed of sound without burners on relied upon the intakes slowing the air to the engines to 350mph, above that they wouldn't run. Hope it flies OK I will build one a true classic, even if I hav'nt got the bottle to fly it

Hi All
I'll add my view, RCM&E is still a good read as it has been over the years, and as I started with a Veron Deacon PAW 1.5 powered with Mcgreagor single channel radio 50 years ago in 1967, I'm 62 now and have spent thousands of £'s and hours on the hobby and built over 120 airframes, variety is the spice of life and I enjoy the re-published designs from way back and still marvel at the money spent flying the equivalent of a family car in the jet age, but that was like us buying our first proportional sets back in the late 70's £150 was a lot of money then, long may it continue, thank god for Balsa wood

Hi Kc
Dave Boddington was so enthusiastic when I met him and produced so many of his own designs to support the magazines for which he was editor, coupled with his fullsize aviation connections and experience made him a true legend. The only other parallel in output would be Vic Smeed.

Hi Guys
Yes many a planned project starts with a plastic kit, I have about 300 up the loft and is excellent insulation, the big Airfix Mossie 1/24th is a big beast, I hope it inspires me to build the Brian Taylor 81" version

Hi All
We went on Saturday with our 2 grandsons who loved it and cost me a fortune , the rain held off and it was a great show but I guess most people went on Sunday for the blue sky's. Nigel & the TJD boys excellent flying as always . It was great to have SLEC there as they don't usually support this show, but I guess it made sense after the nationals being cancelled, only gripe was being charged £1.00 for a A4 flyer with the display times on !! ,having just parted company with £30+ for admission
We all enjoyed the mix of cars, boats & planes
Looking forward to next year already

Balsacraft Blenheim replacement canopy.
in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Posted
Pete Nicholson started with a sweet little 400 powered FW190 which was my first electric, then moved onto his Blenheim with 600 brushed motors, he sold the plans and vac formed bits, then Ripmax kitted his whole range , SLEC still sell the Bearcat I believe ?
I have another part built Blenheim kit up the loft must finish it with brushless and Lipos the later mark had the longer nose maybe easier to balance, as the original version used a heavy sub C pack of nicads. They are very good flyers
