I finally got the chance to fly my A4 at Baldhills north of Ballarat, Victoria last Saturday. The forecast was for 20kt winds however when we arrived it seemed a little stronger than predicted, my wing speed indicator registered 30 gusting to 37kts. I waited around for a couple of hours then gave up and went home. We have had a very windy month here in south east Australia but I am ready to return to Bald Hills on the right day.

Did anyone see Hillary Clinton on the news today? She was interviewed standing in front of a Skyhawk on an aircraft carrier somewhere, I think it was a museum.

It hasn't flown yet Mark. I might have to add some ballast in strong conditions,

AUW including battery is 1.06kg or 2.335lbs.

" Jester" in the pilot seat, I like that.

No I have not joined up, Kiwikid, but have visited their site, very detailed history.

Thanks John, very nice painting, I like the carrier in the distance and the A4 configured for the landing.

I used vinegar and hot water 50/50 and it worked very well. I brushed it liberally on the outside, rapped the balsa around a suitable can and left it over night.

Thanks for that info Phil, my mate Craig recons he can get one and bring it back quicker than the Aussi store can get one. I'll let you know when I get it, meanwhile I will make a balsa one.

Hi Phil, my A4 is nearly finished however I have lost or misplaced my canopy, I have a friend currently in the UK, is there some where that he could get me another one. He will be there for several weeks visiting his parents so it could even be posted to their address. thanks Shane.

Thanks Phil and Peter, live and learn. A bit of planeing and some sanding soon fixed it. I cut down the other strip before I fixed it to the left wing. If I build a second A4 I will be so easy. Joining wings tonite.

Thanks very much Peter your blog it is showing me quite a few things I needed sorted and is most helpful. I was having trouble with the wing joiner triangles too, not able to line them all up but I now think a straight cut with a saw will sort that out.

Hi Phil, I have a problem with my wing T/E. The plan shows it as 3/16, your balsa list says 3/16 x 1/4, so I made the wing up with the 3/16 x 1/4 T/E and being 1/4 high it way above the end of the ribs. What have I done wrong? It would be better now if the top cover butted up against the T/E not over it.

great photos Steve, you are ahead of me , I have nearly finished the fuselage but my F9 is bigger than the fuselage end for some reason, even though all the measurements etc are correct. Did yours fit ok?

thanks Mark, I will give it a go ASAP.

My kit finally arrived from Traplet on May 23 ( ordered March 24) and I am into it already. The weather just turned wintery in Melbourne so plenty of indoor time to build.
can someone explain how to upload a photo please.

Well it's May 23 and my A4 kit has finally arrived, hooray!
Now to clear the table and get into it.

I have now flown my A4 3 times but have damaged it each time. Each flight although in a moderate wind conditions were all down hill for the Skyhawk, however last week I landed it back on the slope almost undamaged. I will try again soon in a stronger wind.
