  1. Anyone strengthened booms on the Hobby King Venom. Help please
  2. Team Orion Avionics Gust MT. These small motor sets are around at the few remaining model shops and of course online. Rpm/Volts 1100, operating current 4_8amps, 2 to 3 cells Lipo, 7/4 to 10/5. This all appears on the back of the card which houses the usual full package. £12,99 from In wood Models. Has anyone bought and tested, my idea is for one of my small Vintage models?.Cheers Stuart
  3. Thanks for the link. I have read through but not much help but interesting. Thanks again.
  4. I would like to make this model more like the full size, i.e. STOL. Has anyone done this i.e made and fitted flaps? or advice please.
  5. Thanks for this Tom, it may be more useful than you may think, as an example, my Riot designed as a 3cell flyer on a 12/6 2200 pack, flies better with a 12/8 using 2500 4cell pack and for 8 minutes as opposed to 6 with what appears to be 25 percent more power on the supplied esc. Thanks so much for taking the trouble to reply. Cheers Stuart
  6. Yes Tom can see now. Your hatch is well forward of the dummy canopy. I will adopt this system, would you estimate there would be enough room for a four cell pack? I know this may mess up the c of g but in case I want more power it would be good to have your opinion before I take the knife out to modify what I have. Cheers Stuart
  7. I made this post wondering if anyone remembered the Chilli Breeze and find there is plenty of interest so thanks to all so far. I have put my undercarriage as Tom's image and wonder for c of g if your battery is in the hatch over the wing or further forward where the tank for would be? Cheers Stuart
  8. Hi Nigel Many thanks I would also be interested in your Dads Power set for his larger model .
  9. Hi Tom This is a great start, images would be good. Did you build up a wing or use foam wings? Best regards, Stuart
  10. I have a Chilli Breeze, this was once a free plan. Mine is powered with an Irvine36 which is more than powerful. I would welcome comments and experiences please
  11. Sorry to hear your news, I hope you find the enthusiasm to try again. Best regards Stuart
  12. It has been a while but I am about to get working on the new Excellence, weather permitting, meaning, good conditions, no building. Even if the summer runs into September, I am more likely to get the model finished and flying in the Autumn or at worst Winter. I am going to design changes to accommodate a larger 3 cell pack as well as a 2200 3 cell pack. If I achieve this I will be able to make a true assessment of all the combinations of weight, performance and duration. The reason I intend to go this root may be of interest to others. I have recently changed the motor in my Max Riot from the supplied 1250kv Donkey motor, to a 750kv Donkey motor, available from Hobby King. The original motor turned a poor quality supplied 12x6 but operated best on a 13x 6.5 apce. The mode comes with a lump of iron embedded in the front. The replacement motor using 4cell2500 pack balances perfectly and runs and performs as well if not better on the same 13x6.5 apce. For those that don't know much about the foam Riot, it is a most excellent aircraft and makes a very good trainer as well as an accurate Sports Aerobatic model, once you increase the throws. After my 15 year break, I now find myself as a BMFA Instructor again, so this is important to me and students. I will post my progress but in the meantime your comments are most welcome. Cheers Stuart
  13. Already dug out and battery bay adjusted to take 4 cell comfortably. Test fly 4 cell com is when will d subsides. Than'm s for all of your comments.Cheers.
  14. Motor arrived, fitted and flown 12x6apce, flies fine but not quite as powerful as the original .motor on the same prop but acceptable. Going to modify the battery housing arrangement to take 4 cell pack. I will keep you posted.
  15. Motor ordered from Hobbyking. I will post my findings when all is complete and flying report is underway. In my opinion the Riot is a Model aircraft that will be remembered in this EPO foam age. It will fly as an initial trainer, aerobatic trainer, and if this motor works out, a performance to maybe match its name.
  16. Very helpful, I will see if Hobbyking still have them. Cheers Stuart
  17. Thanks Brian, would you say this is more of less powerful than the original motor?
  18. Hi all, after nearly 2 years of enjoying my Max Riot, one of the elevators became unstuck in flight and now we have need for a new motor. The model itself is remarkable in how strong it is, all repairs complete within an hour excepting the prop driver and motor ( a crude bell housing affair). Even though I ,may have to cut about and make a new mounting arrangement I have come to the conclusion that I want a better motor with a a little more power and finer manufacturing I would be most grateful for all contributions and ideas particularly for those who have changed their motors for either 3 or 4 cell operation, I currently have a 40 AMP esc, CENTURIES STANDARD WITH THE AIRCRAFT
  19. I know the shaft thread is 4BA, one motor being reversed thread with motor running contra rotating, I also lost one of the reverse thread nuts and again haven't been able to lo ate any. Making g a shaft is beyond my skill set and I don't have a lathe. Thanks for BRC, I will check this out. Anymore help gratefully received. Cheers Stuart
  20. To cut a long story short, one of my .motor shafts has slight bend. Does anyone know if and where I might get a replacement? I have removed the motor, taken the front grub screw and rear circlip, I am struggling to get the shaft out but expect I will ultimately succeed. My main pro elm is finding spares on the internet, so far props don't appear to be available. Help please.
  21. Thanks Ray and Denis, this gives me new hope rcworld looks good , I will follow this up after test flying the apce2 bladers and report back. Cheers Stuart
  22. I have apce 7x5 as these are available with contra rotating option, I expect these will fly the model well. I would still like to my hands on the 3 blade originals, anyone out there with info. Cheers Stuart
  23. Thanks will do, this is very useful. Cheers Stuart
  24. Interesting, I will double check my model, but anyone else with this issue, please comment.
  25. Another issue is my elevator push rod vibrates badly, has a to me moved the servo near to the stabilizer and how?Cheers Stuart.
