A clubmate gave me two rolls of Proficover - it's a bit like Oratex or Solartex, a very good material to work with. So I had to build something with it.
The result was a control line stunter (Jamison Special) and the rc plane you see in the pictures. It's my own design and it had its maiden flight yesterday.
To my surprise it flew very well despite the not too powerful old open-rockers Saito 30.

I like gullwings - both upright or inverted. So when I browsed through my old Model Airplane News magazines looking for inspiration I found "Gamma Gull" in the Jan. 1986 issue (also now on outerzone). I made my own plans based on those construction drawings and added ailerons and electric power (Graupner Compact 300 z) . It spans about 1.7 meters, is built from balsa and is covered with Oracover and HK film. Had its maiden flight yesterday - very satisfying, only needed some more downthrust.

Here's my scratch built Cessna GC-1, a not so famous 1929 air racer.
It spans 1.57 meters, is powered by a Saito 72 and weighs 3 kg.
I built it for the controlline events I visit once a year to compete in Scale and in Basic Carrier Deck flying - a nice diversion from my RC flying.
The throttle is controlled by 2.4mhz RC, covering is hobbyking film, and it has sprung landing gear.
Maiden flight soon.

Hi Mitchell,
my model is scratch built - based on the plans you find on the internet.
I inverted the engine ,used the landing gear of my late Lazy Bee and changed the structure in some details.

Here's my version oa Clancy "Speedy Bee". While all the original dimensions were not touched, I did some cosmetic modifications.
Power is an OS 20 FP.

I think braided fishing lines like Spectra or Spiderwire are a very cheap alternative for models of this size. Check the controlline websites for the correct diameters.

For transport I put off one pair of wings of my Staaken Flitzer (scale 1/3.75, span 60 inches, OS 91 surpass).The two wings are held by the two wires that slide into the wing tubes for the piano wire stubs.
In flight the wings are only fixedby the landing and flying wires. Theirends are held in place by a common piano wire - not very scale-like, but practical.
Oh, I forgot to mention.... it's a control line model.

My balsa stripper: a piece of 30x20mm wood, two m 3 bolts ,nuts and washers, different spacers (1mm, 1.5mm and 2mm ply) and a cutting blade. Simple, cheap, but effective.

I designed them that way so their sharp trailing edge matches the angle of the swept back rudder hinge line.

maybe I can help to clarify this. As a german history teacher I want to put two things right. German history between 1933 and 1945 is taught very intensively in every german school. On the other hand no student must visit a concentration camp, it is a completely optional decision of schools, students and their parents.

Hi, Piers,
You asked for more deatails of my "Skyrider". Well, there is nothing extraordinary except the inverted gull wing. The outer wing panels and the tail feathers are oracovered. The centre part of the wing, the nose of the fuselage and the wheel pants are reinforced with light glass cloth.
Skyrider plans are no longer available, but I still have the magazine with the article.

Wanted to try something different, so I built this plan from Depron sheet. It is based on plans and videos you find on the Internet ( Buschtrottel Agro). The model features a Fogleman airfoil, flaperons an leading edge slats which are fixed with Velcro as well as the landing gear. Flies great.
