I do most of my building while standing and was suffering after a long session so I bought a 2m long anti-fatigue mat and the difference was night and day. I can't speak about what it would do for arthritis but it's something to consider.

I think you'd be better building something that was designed for power from the outset rather than something that wasn't designed for it. The spars and joiners etc wouldn't have been spec'd to cope with the extra weight and stress for example. Plus there's no shortage of Hurricane kits and plans to choose from.

SHM themselves produced a laser cut short kit and the vac formed mouldings last time I looked. I built mine just from the plans and it's quite simple, go for it.

I'm all for the noble suggestion of buying British but two things come to mind to add balance here:
First, and bear with my generalisations, society and behaviour has changed. People trying to squeeze more in have a) less time and b) less money. If buying an ARTF from the far east means you can do more with less it's naive to think people won't take the path of least resistance. Despite being an accomplished scratch builder my last three large models have been ARTF / composite because I just can't be bothered to build right now.
Second is the model shops. We cry about the rate they're closing but they just don't stock what they used to, unsurprisingly they're supporting the foam and ARTF market. This year around 80% of my fairly significant expenditure has been mostly to German shops and bit to Czech, Poland and Russia because they have what I want and excellent service to boot.
Sadly my experience is that many overseas model businesses offer better selection, better service and lower prices.

Hmmm, looking at those photos I'm not convinced about the quality for an all moulded model, and the packaging would give me real cause for concern

I can speak of Tomahawk. I had one of theirs arrive yesterday and although I haven't started the assembly yet I unpacked it all to check for transport damage (none as it was very well packaged) and the quality is exceptional.

Other options are M2.5 which is a good compromise, or 3mm carbon rod with adapters either end.

A lot of us use Callie Graphics, despite being in the US the service is usually faster and cheaper than anyone in the UK. Has a huge range available on site so no lengthy conversations about what you want although she does do bespoke stuff too. Find what you like, select the scale, add to basket. Highly recommended.

You might get more hits if you put what manual you're looking for in the thread title

I plead the 5th.

Wow, that's unbelievably lazy.

I had an early straight 4m one, not the subsequent Magic with plug in tips, about 20/25 years ago and it was one of the best fliers I ever had, should never have got rid of it.

To add some balance here they've serviced / repaired / mode swapped a few tx's for me over the years, the most recent was earlier this year just before COVID hit. Phoned on day one to arrange, dropped off day 2 lunchtime, got the call to say it was done at 4pm, collected on day three.
Sorry you're having a bad experience but let's be cautious of trial by Internet.

Hi John, it might be worth asking general questions in one of the mass build general threads or possibly creating one yourself rather than in Phil's build thread

I wouldn't use humbrol, it may attack the foam. I used Vallejo paint and an airbrush.

Shouldn't there be fins on Sabre tanks?

I use Easy Composites for the tube and make the outer as above.

Are you going to drop in a pair of 6x9's too?

Ignore the negativity Jon, I've enjoyed following this second chance at life for the OS and your clear explanations. 20 years in F1 could have been catering for all we know
