  1. Many thanks for the responses. I didn't really consider the electric power mainly because of the outlay of buying the motors, battery packs and charger and I already have some engines spare, but never the less they are both interesting ideas. I have got a spare SC15A that I thought of putting in the Moonprobe but wasn't sure if it would be OK. I'll take your advice and put an Irvine .40 in the Diamond, however would and Irvine 53 or Jen .57 be unsuitable to put in the Pulsar bipe, the other engine I have is an OS61FX.

  2. I have recently read that on old .60 engine from the early 1970s would be matched for power by a good modern .46 engine. If this is the case could anyone tell me what might be the best size modern engine to put in the following aerobatic planes. A 1969 42" span Moonprobe, the recommended engine back then was a .19 - .23. A 1979 52" span Diamond, the recommended engine is a piped .40 and lastly a Flair Pulsar biplane from the 1970's with a recommended .60. The reason for asking is that a smaller engine of equivalent power would be easier to fit in some of the airframes.

  3. Many thanks for the advice fellas. Finally got the circlips in using the plastic bag as suggested to capture the flying circlips. The engine has now been rebuilt. Thanks again for the responses, it's much appreciated.

  4. I am rebuilding an OPS.21 engine to aircraft spec, it was originally a car version back in 198? The crankcase, bearings and crankshaft are unused original OPS parts. I ordered some new parts to complete the rebuild but the tolerances aren't as good now as the original parts (I had to machine the backplate to allow the crankshaft to freely spin). I would like some advice on how to install the very fiddly wrist pin wire cir clips that are quite large and the other question relates to the wrist pin, it has a blind hole drilled through it, should the blind end face the front or the rear of the engine? Any advice would be much appreciated.

  5. I have aquired a Skymaster biplane with a fibreglass fuselage that is in need of some repair work. The balsa wood fin post is coming unstuck from one side of the fibreglass fin; what would be the best method & glue type for re-sticking this. Also the gelcoat has been damaged in one or two places and has been ground back to solid material; there are a few extra small diameter drilled holes that need filling in, what would be the best type of filler to use on this. I intend to have the fuselage resprayed on completion.

    Can anyone tell me the best and easiest way to remove profilm that is well & truly stuck onto a foam veneered wing. I've found in the past that I was easily able to pull off the covering, however my latest attempt to recover a model has come to a halt. A small area around the wing tips & centre wing joint has been removed the rest refuses to come off.
