  1. I can only hope the manufactures get back as i & another established flyer cant get either of the two programing cards to work. Yes! it should be very simple to use & this is why i purchased the units. But no luck. Will see if they get back to me.
  2. Yep, tried menu & all other buttons. Just re-charged any battery's. Also tried a separate 5v supply. Still only a single red light. Have also sent an email to the manufactures, but in china, so we will see.
  3. Hi, i purchased 2x80amp & 2x40amp ZTW Mantis ESC & a programing card. I tried to program one of the ESC's with the card & all i got was a red light on the card. So i tried the other 3 ESC,s & the same thing. So thinking i had a duff programing card i told the supplier & they refunded me. I then brought another one from a UK based company & plugged them in with the same problem. Now i am sure i haven't got 4 duff ESC,s. Any suggestions.? Oh, & yes i tried with the ESC plugged into a battery & also from a seperate power supply.
  4. Thanks everyone. Did a cleanup on everything & found the rudder was set to one & Ailerons set to -1 & found servo>travel>sub trim & set these 2 items to 0 seem to solve it.. Seems to have worked. Thanks
  5. I have an electric Boomerang plane nearly ready to go, but have a small problem with when i turn the rudder the ailerons are also getting a tiny signal & move just a fraction of an inch. So small that it wouldn't make any difference. I am assuming its something in the DX6e settings that i am using. Any suggestions on which menu i should have a look at?? Thanks & hope your all well.
  6. Posted by Bruce Collinson on 29/03/2020 13:16:27:   What’s wrong with purpose made pushrod, with thread on one end, Z bend on the other? Fairly inexpensive from all the usual UK suppliers, M2, 2.5 and 3 freely available, as are locknuts for additional security. If one end of the rod is fixed, e.g. Z bend, it can’t rotate anyway. Agree with Gangster re variable thread sizes. My preference is for relatively long clevises, Kavan e.g., aiming to have the entire clevises thread filled by the rod thread and if they get too short I make up another one. Then it’s threadlocked and has fuel tube over the clevises arms pushed close to the control horn to prevent springing off. The only failure I’ve had was clevises from an ARTF Yak where the pins were weak, luckily failing prior to maddening, so I threw them all out. But 2mm plain rods are no problem. Maybe i'm not looking in the right places. BTC   The main problem was finding a UK shop that sold 800mm & longer 2mm rods with a thread. But plain 2mm rods are no problem. Might be unlucky in where i am looking. Edited By Christopher Morris 2 on 29/03/2020 14:05:19 Edited By Christopher Morris 2 on 29/03/2020 14:07:23
  7. Be nice if there was an inexpensive thread rolling machine like they make most bolts & studding from. Something along the style of a pencil sharpener. But, i will go down the solder route.
  8. Thank guys, do you find a soldering iron ok or a small gas torch a bit better? Was just wondering if the heat will travel on a steel rod with an iron.     Edited By Christopher Morris 2 on 29/03/2020 10:22:43 Edited By Christopher Morris 2 on 29/03/2020 10:23:15
  9. Hi, had to make up some 2mmX800mm control rods & have had a devil of a time threading one end for a clevis. Do you guys find threading crimp, glue or solder the best & strongest way. I was only looking at a thread for a bit of fine adjustment at one end & easy replacement if needed.. Edited By Christopher Morris 2 on 29/03/2020 08:38:47
  10. David & Denis, Me too, as i have only started flying this winter & not even flown yet. I have small Bixler foamy to get me started before i try the Boomarang. "as its cheaper to crash" lol I hope i am getting all ok with my looking around for what has been suggested for the conversion. 1x4250/800kv motor, 80amp ESC with 8amp bec, 5amp 4c/14.8v lipo & a 11x8e prop. I have also made it a tail dragger with large front wheels. Fortunately it has 3 control rod tubes going to the tail & i assume its for ruder, elevator & rear wheel steer, & instead of coming off the ruder for steering, i just put in another servo in & will connect with a Y cable to the ruder. 11. Hi, got a BOOMERANG 40 that i have converted to an electric. Now all the info i have is for a petrol & it says fit everything & balance with an empty fuel tank. I am assuming with an electric version & the battery is a constant weight & weighing in at 570g/20ozs i should balance with this fitted???. Am i right. Thanks
  12. It was just a case of me having several spare 0-30v 100amp DC meters that were very cheap & small enough to fit a permanent meter to the plane. I have a spektrum DX8e & 6E & just purchased some spektrum AR620 & Ar410 arial-less receivers & i believe these have limited telemetry as standard. But i believe it will only give the receiver/Bec voltage, which is not much good for electric planes. The only reason for the meter was to save taking the plane apart for a quick check on the battery.. I can land, have a quick look at the meter & if all ok, take off again.   Edited By Christopher Morris 2 on 06/03/2020 20:27:07
  13. Hi, Now the larger electric planes can run at quite high amperage, so i thought a volt/amp meter on the outside/top of the fuselage from ebay so i can see the battery voltage & what amps it pulling on the ground permanently. Now the motors can quite often pull 60+ amps, so I am assuming a to go for a 100amp shunt. But they come in different Ma versions & it was this part i wasn't sure on. "What size milliamp to use" The batteries used are 5amp hour 14.5 volt lipo's. Any ideas on shunt types? Thanks
  14. Thanks Robin for the info, being a bit new to all this i will look into the snake side of things as it seems to have the good alternatives of many ways to fix them.. IE: (solder, glue & crimping" which all give me different ways to solve a problem. So, i don't think a few snakes & fittings will not do any harm in the arsenal. Thanks
  15. Ah! Robin, didn't think of CF rods. I will buy some anyway, as they will be useful. How have you found fitting Clevis & clap screw on this type of rod. Certainly a lot less on cost. Martin, it looks like normal clear plastic tubing.
  16. Hi, Where can i buy 2mm pushrods 750mm long. I picked up an old Boomerang 40 That has 2 pushrods missing to the tail & found loads up to 500mm but not longer. These rod go through what i assume is 2.2mm piping. to give some extra rigidity.to the rods. Thanks
  17. Thanks guys, i wont feel like i might short something out.
  18. Just a newbie question. Are all binding plugs on receivers the same IE: a short between two terminals or are their different types.
  19. Thanks Robert. Some of the Spektrum receivers were way over my budget & was going to use the Lemon units as i was hearing these were also very reliable. But these units are a supersizing at a reasonable price from spektrum. Interesting plane you have, it almost looks like it would work with 3 ducted fans as well. Thanks Edited By Christopher Morris 2 on 01/03/2020 16:09:02
  20. Im a bit of a newbie to all this, but have just brought 2x4 & 1x6 chanel units & we will see how it all works.
  21. Posted by Denis Watkins on 01/03/2020 11:31:50: Always Christopher, you cannot put any 2.4ghz Rx in the shade Always good installation, I put mine up front in the cockpit window Who? Says you have to bury the Rx behind servos and power packs? These are amplified faultless Rx Good advise Denis, it was on one of spectrum videos that they suggest keeping away from other components metal components. Possibly to do with the inbuilt antenna on the unit
  22. Thanks for the info guys, i feel more like a purchase now. Have you found the range good enough with the new built in antenna, or any cliches.? I know they do advise not to mount near other things metal. Edited By Christopher Morris 2 on 01/03/2020 11:24:54
  23. I was trying to find reviews on the lot less expensive Spektrum AR410 & 620 aerial less receivers. The cost is around £22 for the 4 canal & £32 for the 6, which is a lot less than much of spectrums gear. Anyone using them?
