  1. Panic over, that,s what i thought. It was a bit off putting that they should say Mode 2. It gives you the impression that it was only that mode. Just another question if anyone has used one & found it ok?. I assume i am right in saying the Spektrum Wireless Simulator Dongle WS1000 is for a simulator as the DX6e has no port to plug into. Any views? Thanks
  2. Thanks for your help everyone. Decided on the DX6e as a controller, but have noticed many adverts have it as a mode 2 which seems a little confusing as i thought it was a simple switch at the back of this radio for one or two. Am i correct & not sure why they are emphasising its mode 2.
  3. Posted by Nigel R on 03/10/2019 17:08:58: All-the-features type comparison of the Spektrum TX range is here: big chart on spektrum website Many thanks Nigel, i had a look on the site, but couldn't find this page. But thats just what was needed. Thanks
  4. Posted by kc on 03/10/2019 16:16:08: The latest DX6 would be quite adequate for training and would be suitable for most models after too unless you know you want more than 6 channels. A lot cheaper than the DX7 and 8. Thanks for the quick replies. Cant find the info on the difference between the DX6 models. Any ideas.
  5. I just been to a local club to see about joining & noticed that 90% were using Spectrum radios from 6i to 8e's. So when i book in for some training/tuition looks like it would be best for me to pick up a Spectrum 7/8'ish "No Problem" Question is, if when we link the radios for some tuition, so the instructor can take over at any time, can one Spectrum be in mode 2 & the other in mode 1. ? Thanks
  6. Ah! Just found a youtube video saying the usb is wired differently to the run-cam, so wont work.
  7. I already have a Mobius Camera, do you think or know if the Quanum RunCam Docking Station with 600mW 40ch Transmitter fit the Mobius Camera as it looks remarkably like the older Mobius backpack that's been discontinued. Cant get a reply from HK **LINK** Thanks Chris
  8. I am about to join the Kings Lynn club "but not till January when their year starts" & with the slight increase they expect to be £55-£60 next year with a membership of around 60 "but not confirmed" Plus you have to join the BMFA for the insurance. Its interesting to see the price variations & size of the clubs that are around. Would be nice if clubs would let you join at any time & not on the 1st of January just after the Xmas expense. There are very inexpensive ways to track memberships these days either online or with a computer.
  9. Nice "or not" to see we are all in the same boat. You can get around some of the import duties if you can get the sender to NOT put an invoice in & send as a sample. Or, if you have an American friend to send it as a present. But either way, its still expensive. But even the UK is getting more costly. I just sent a 28Kg vice to Scotland "with a cheap post code" at a cost of £42 P&P "Ouch". Problem was that only a very limited amount of couriers would touch anything over 30Kg & my parcel was 39Kg with the box i had to make for it to transport. The odd thing is that if this person had brought the 2 that i had for sale, i would of driven them up there & had a break in the lake district on the way back.
  10. Do Americans get charge the same fee's as us Brits on an ebay sale?. Now, many Brits were trying it on & trying to sell “!let's say a £5 item” for 1p & £7.50 P&P. So the seller only paid a commission on 1p. Now ebay stopped this & now charges a commission on the sale price & p&p added together. Do the Americans still have the old system, or does the USA just charge a lot for P&P, as i see many items for sale at “lets say” a $50 & a further $50 P&P. Must be some of the highest P&P prices in the world as I can send to Australia for half that price. Any thoughts?
  11. Posted by Frank Skilbeck on 28/09/2019 22:14:03: Er even on cars and motorbikes in countries that drive on the right use their right foot/hand to operate the throttle. From what I understand is that mode 1 is a natural follow on from reed radios where the controls were all operated by switches then 2 channel proportional radios which had separate sticks. Since then it all depended on who taught you to fly. Ah! Didn't word of paragraph that correctly. 9:30 was getting near bed time.
  12. Its interesting to hear that other countries around the world are promptly one or the other, but not the same. I wonder if its anything in the UK mind to do with a cars throttle is on the right & a motorbike the same. Is there a more instinctive side to have it for most? IE: most are right handed, & it may suit a person like this. It would of been interesting to see how my late father would of dealt with this being 90% ambidextrous. It was strange to watch that he could write with both hands. "Not at the same time"  Edited By Christopher Morris 2 on 29/09/2019 06:00:14
  13. Hi, what is your mode & the majority of your club or friends preferences ?. Posted by kc on 28/09/2019 16:44:15: Obviously one should learn the same Mode as your club and instructor. This means any member could grab your Tx in an emergency etc, but it also means you might get invited to have a go with someone elses model when you are good enough. This is very useful for experience. It is interesting that Mode 1 always uses both hands while Mode 2 fliers can sometimes use one hand only if they want ( elevator & ailerons being the controls used almost all the time on fast models) If the experts who consider that different sides of the brain operate left hand and right hands are correct then it may be easier and theoretically better to fly Mode 1 because its using both sides of the brain!
  14. Hi, being a newbie i wasn't sure on the membership size of electric RC plane clubs & just wanted to get an idea on the clubs around the UK & there fees. I realise with many you also have to join the BFMA as well. Thanks
  15. Posted by Paul Marsh on 27/09/2019 10:56:51: As I asked earlier, whereabouts in the country do you live? Swap Meet season is coming up, and bought this, for £1 inc engine, servos (had 35mhz Futaba rx but took it out). The rx, I bought for it was £5, Tactic rx, and battery/switch, so just over £10 a complete airframe,. Also bought this for £10 with futaba 2.4 rx, battery, just needed 2 more servos and that's another bargain! Ah! well done. Swap meet, i see the club i am looking to join has one about 1 mile from me. King’s Lynn Aero Model Club Swap meet on 27th October 2019. Will pop that on the calendar.
  16. I think i will go with 2 as it feels ok for me & will stick with it. Have you ever moved the knife & fork drawer in the kitchen "or any drawer"& years later you still on occasion go back to the old draw. Best to go with what feels right.
  17. Ah! Thanks for getting back everyone. Sorry I didn't get back, it was all going in my junk folder. Good point on the club side & i am from Kings Lynn Norfolk & we do have a local model flying club called “King’s Lynn Aero Modelling Club” (KLAMC) **LINK** & will get in touch to see what they can offer in the way of some tuition, preferably a buddy up lesson with dual radios. Budget wise, i will start at around £300-£400 & see how we go. Just on another note? Is there a norm for the UK on a mode 1 or 2 radio, or is this purley personal choice?. For me i would think i would be more in favour of throttle on the left. But i see different countries around the world differ. If there are any members from the KLAMC, say hi & you might be able to say what the clubs like.
  18. Hi, completely new to RC model planes, but thank goodness for the internet & forums for some possible help. My first query is getting my first model plane & not wasting money. Many of the recommended beginners models come as a ready to fly & i can imagine the radio handset will only suit that model & be limited beond that plane. I was hoping to buy a slightly better radio handset that is a little more future proof & can connect & operate several planes. Was possibly thinking a “FrSky Taranis Q X7 2.4G” or similar at around £80 which would be within budget. Now, can I buy any of these beginner plane's without the radio. ? Or any suggestions for a good starter plane. Thanks
